World Cup @ The Curve

Posted on July 11, 2006 - Filed Under Uncategorized

Yes it’s considered stale news or rather a very very late update on the recent World Cup Final, hehehe. I am pretty sure a lot of us know what was the main highlight of the recent World Cup final and it has nothing to do with the ‘way’ Zidane scored his penalty nor was it about how Buffon saved the thundering header from Zidane but instead it was about Zidane’s headbutting incident which made the crowd speechless for a brief few seconds before the Italian supporters started screaming on top of their lungs seeing Zidane being sent off.

We were all watching it at the Curve and even though i was there supporting Italy but right after that incident i felt bad for the France players and their supporters. But anyhow, that’s football and anything can change as long as you’re still playing on the field. The ‘we’ i was saying earlier includes me (duhhh), Lingster, Kevin, CharngYee, KhekYang, Jiin, Duncan, SueAnne and EuJin …… oh ya and Mr William. We reached there around 10.45pm and started wondering around before settling down at Starbucks to talk rubbish. We were there till one hour before kick off when there’s a fireworks show.

Notice there’s 3 screens? the remaining one was behind of me

We then adjourned to the main area where they had some performance going on and at the same time, they prepared 4 giant screens at the closed section of the road.

Look at the crowd for those who wanna get painted :P

Before settling down at our spot, we decided to get our arms painted with the country flag we were supporting. Then right after that, we sat down and watched the game

Girl Power ??? Sue Anne mana ?

The so called Italian fans

1 jinxed France supporter + 1 hardcore France supporter = Zidane doing Shaolin Soccer?

SueAnne and William looking at others, crowding for tattoos

Some of them decided to go all out by getting their faces painted

Oh look look, he also painted his face :P

Lingster getting her arm painted with the Italian flag. Should have seen how disappointed this fella was when he asked her what flag

He even tried talking her into getting the France flag instead but Lingster stood strong with the Italians :D

Then it was someone else’s turn to get his arm painted

SueAnne, KhekYang and William patiently waiting for their turn

1 Italian supporter + 1 France supporter = 1 hot picture :P

Frankly i enjoyed myself during the Final, from the funnie performances on stage to the ridiculously long lines for tattoos. All and all it was a great experience but everything has it’s price and right now my limbs are all sore and my body feels damn bloody weak. It’s like as though i gave birth to a calf …. hahaha what a stupid comparison. I heard Bukit Bintang was even better as they covered the road with fake grass and everyone got to sit on it to watch the game. How i wished i was there :P Anyway FORZA ITALIA !

Oh by the way, thanks Lingster for those great pictures. Ahem ahem, now you’re my official photographer since you have a better camera phone than me. Tell you what, you take pictures at night and i will take those in the day time …. Deal or not ? :P

I was looking for this the whole night, and met a bloke who said that it was no longer available (around 12am). If only I knew….wonder if they had black/yellow to go with the red. ;-)

You mean you were at the Curve too ? I know they stopped a couple of times cause they were having their meal. But it wasn’t too long before they came back.

They had a few other colours besides the Italy and France main colours. One fella painted his face with the England flag =_=” Everyone did stare at him as he looked out of place :P
