Really 3G

Celcom teamed up with Nokia and came out with this Really 3G campaign in my uni last week. They had a few promotions and competitions to encourage the usage of 3G. For the whole week they were giving out phones to those winners of the day. The prize ranges from 6680 to the n90, yeap n90 - the phone that is so big that, you could kill a dog with it. The final day of the campaign which was last Saturday, they had a Location Based Service competition. In lay man’s term, a treasure hunt solely based on the map shown on your phone. Khek, Lingster and I teamed up and the first prize was 3 units of 6680.
Itu dia, the 3 muskeeteers all geared up to play. Please don’t ask why i look so retarded, it’s just the sun
Unfortunately for us, the bus that was suppose to ferry us to KLCC didn’t make it. The driver overslept and refused to pick up his phone. So the organizers gave each team 50 bucks and we had to make our way to KLCC in 2 1/2 hours. FIFTY freaking bucks man. We didn’t bother catching the bus, instead we took a taxi to Putrajaya to catch the ERL.
We all woke up at 7am on a SATURDAY ! and now we are asked to get to the venue ourselves. But i think Lingster and I were quite awake but Khek wasn’t. He was so excited that he woke up and waited for us at 6.55am. Hence, the picture above. Lingster said he looks like he is taking drugs. Khek, i said nothing. I just thought it was cool of you to pose like that
Lingster couldn’t stop smiling as she just loves competitions. We have joined a treasure hunt previously with Bernard and we didn’t really excel in it due to some poor planning. So this time around she was adamant that we spend at least 5 minutes to plan the whole thing out.
So we reached KLCC with 1 hour to spare. Khek decided to have his breakfast at McD. As we waited for Khek, we could see from above more and more teams arrive in front of Starbucks (meeting point).
We were all given a software which was preloaded with the KL city map and it has the function of zooming till you could see the buildings in block form which was kind of cool. Then 4 coordinates were sent to the phones and we were off to retrieve the tokens from all checkpoints. The organizers stressed to us that we can’t run and only walking or fast walk is allowed. So we opted for a taxi. The first taxi driver didn’t do much to help us to reach the first check point. Our first stop was Chorus Hotel and the next stop was Ampang Park. We walked there since it was down the road. Out of the blue, Lingster starting asking where was the first token and we realised that she dropped it on the way. We got our second token and tracked back to find our first token which we did find. Then we got into a taxi and i tell you, this driver was so helpful that he offered to wait for us while we get down to get our tokens. He did that till the last check point which was KLCC and the meter showed a mere RM 4.30 and he said that we could pay as much as we like. Knowing that i have another 50 bucks from the organizers (for transportation), i took out 15 bucks and gave him. He was shocked and even asked whether i was sure of giving that much. Well he deserved it anyway. We dashed off and did our fast walk towards Starbucks. Just as we reached, we saw 2 other teams already waiting there.
We were disappointed ! We did notice the other teams running at some point but it wasn’t taken note by anybody >_<" The best part was, we were told that the time difference between our team and the first team was 1 minute !
Each team will be followed by one official to make sure that our group stays intact and not break any rules. We were happy to be part of this game and look forward if there’s any in the future.
Some of the committees told that 2nd place and 3rd place will also get phones even though it was not mentioned officially but until now no use
False hope for us.
