The Purpled Raya

Published by in Random on October 30th, 2006

Every year my neighbour invites my family over for lunch on the first day of Raya. There wasn’t much difference compared to previous years except for their theme colour. I have noticed every single family member, wore the theme colour where ever possible, for instance this year was purple. The men had their baju melayu in purple while some of the ladies had their baju kurung in purple too. As for the lady of the house, she even went to the extend of getting purple coloured curtains and sofa covers. It was so purple-ish The food was awesome. I enjoyed their food till i had a second helping. So much for my dieting plan -__-” After lunch, i sat in the hall as my parents continued talking to them. Before we left, one of their sons arrived. Together with him, was a fair skinned girl and we were told that they just got married more than a year ago. I knew him back when i was in primary school and we used to go to the same tuition for BM. He acknowledged me as he walked in. At this point, my sister asked me, isn’t he the same age as

The New Camry

Published by in Random on October 29th, 2006

Last week, i had to bring my father’s car to Toyota in Butterworth after realizing that there was a small crack on the front windscreen. Since it was an ‘oversea’ trip, my parents and my brother decided to tag along. I had to bring a few documents to proof that the windscreen was insured and will replaced for free if any defects were found. Upon reaching one of the biggest Toyota Centres in Malaysia, i could see a lot of people crowding the showroom area. I wasn’t too surprised about it as the new Camry has just been launched a few days ago. My brother who is a car enthusiast just disappeared from us and joined the crowd. As we waited for the paperworks to be done, one of the main person who was taking care of our matter told us to have a look at the new Camry. The difference between the island branch and the mainland branch was that the sales people over in Penang Island were more like vultures. They will surround you while you are trying to have ‘a feel’ of the car and my dad personally hates that. That’s another main reason why he hates

Balik Kampung – The car ride

Published by in Random on October 17th, 2006

Out from the Penang International Airport, i searched for my parents and got into the car. After being bullied by a limping man who might be having his midlife crisis and after being fondled by a future housemaid who was mistaken for a man, my parents both greeted me with this question. “Wow you very fat already ar?” I wasn’t sure whether i should bang my head against the door or maybe slap myself in the face. That was the least expected question from them. But anyway, now i am concerned about my weight. Frankly i have gained a couple of kilos during studyweek and examweek. Now that i have 3 weeks to loose those kilos, i have started off by helping out my mum whenever she’s at the kitchen. I would help carry the trays of cookies or jam tarts. Then finish eating them by night. Not sure if it’s of any help with me loosing those kilos.

Balik Kampung – The plane ride

Published by in Random on October 16th, 2006

The plane was scheduled to leave on time and I had like an hour before boarding. I was thinking about what happened in the bus earlier and prayed nothing weird will happen. One thing about Air Asia passengers is that they frequently queue up in front of their respective gates without being asked to. In fact people would start forming a line as early as 40 minutes before the stated time. Foreigners would be thinking why in the world anyone would want to remain standing for 40 minutes when there are benches all round. Well I actually heard this conversation from the couple behind me and yes I was also one of those mad people standing in line. I thought if I was in line first at least I could get a good seat and not worrying about finding a good seat. After a ‘mere’ half an hour, the gates were opened and off I walked towards the parked A320 in front of me. Here’s a tip for everyone, use the back entrance to enter the plane as it’s faster. I manage to get a sit by the window. Later on, the seats beside me were occupied by a couple.

Balik Kampung – The bus ride

Published by in Random on October 16th, 2006

My flight was at 9.05pm and I decided to be at the LCCT at least an hour or two earlier to have my dinner. Lingster dropped me at the ERL station before leaving for Klang. I just can’t wait to get out of this place after being stuck here and not being home for God knows how long. I was pretty early when I reached KLIA. So I took my time as I walked to the bus station. Just for those who didn’t know, for all AirAsia flights, you would have to go to LCCT whereby you will need to get there by bus. I got on to the bus and there are only 5 people on board. I placed my luggage one side of the chair with my haversack on it, lying flat. I was busy meddling with my phone when a hand reached and grabbed my shoulder from behind. I turned around to see who it was. A man in his late 40s or early 50s was standing on one leg with the other leg clutched in his left hand with one hand on my shoulder. He shoved 3 ringgit right in my face and told me to

Balik Kampung

Published by in Random on October 13th, 2006

Finally, finally ….. i am going back to Penang. Just finished my last paper almost an hour ago and now i can’t wait to fly back tonight. It has been a stressful semester for me, especially with so many activities done at the wrong time. I was in the 3G competition, Treasure Hunt, Sis Birthday, Ing Keat’s Birthday, shopping with parents, go back to penang cause had to settle some paper work, etc. But nevertheless i am glad i was able to handle all this with ease. Two days ago, while sitting for my second paper in MPH, one of the students started screaming and then groaned non stop. Everyone in the hall looked to the middle and wondered what the hell happened. I even took the trouble of standing up, just to have a better view. Yeah how stupid right ? Before i could stand up straight, i quickly lowered myself. The girl fell off her table and some how pushed her table to the front. The student in front of her had to be relocated to another place as the victim was still groaning on the ground. Every invigilator was there to help her. I never knew what

Evian again

Published by in Random on October 6th, 2006

Remember that i wrote an entry about my first Evian experience about a month ago ? Well just to recap what i said previously, I was at Lingster’s bro’s birthday party in Maisons and i stupidly gulp down vodka thinking it was pepsi. So i ended up asking for warm water but they only had evian. When they brought me a bottle and showed me the bill, i almost fell of my chair. It showed 17 bucks. Like i said, it tasted expensive ….. very expensive. Actually i still have the bottle now. Some of my friends think I am drinking Evian almost every other day when i am just filling it with normal RO water. A few days ago i was at Carrefour and i stumbled upon this. I paid almost 6 times the price of one bottle from Carrefour. So sad All the best to anyone who has exams in this next few weeks
