Balik Kampung - The bus ride

Posted on October 16, 2006 - Filed Under Uncategorized

My flight was at 9.05pm and I decided to be at the LCCT at least an hour or two earlier to have my dinner. Lingster dropped me at the ERL station before leaving for Klang. I just can’t wait to get out of this place after being stuck here and not being home for God knows how long. I was pretty early when I reached KLIA. So I took my time as I walked to the bus station. Just for those who didn’t know, for all AirAsia flights, you would have to go to LCCT whereby you will need to get there by bus. I got on to the bus and there are only 5 people on board. I placed my luggage one side of the chair with my haversack on it, lying flat. I was busy meddling with my phone when a hand reached and grabbed my shoulder from behind.

I turned around to see who it was. A man in his late 40s or early 50s was standing on one leg with the other leg clutched in his left hand with one hand on my shoulder.

He shoved 3 ringgit right in my face and told me to get him a bottle of water. Of course I didn’t just move right away from my seat without being puzzled. Before I can say anything, he said he has cramps on his left leg as he pointed it to me and demanded a bottle of water. Being terrified, I just grabbed the 3 ringgit and stood up and started walking.

Now at this point, I feared he might steal my notebook which was in my haversack or maybe hide some drugs in my bag. My head was so messed up that I even thought he was going to blow up the bus and he asked me to leave as I was too young to die. Yeah what a load of bullcrap but that’s the best logical reason for me at that time. Well now you know how screwed up my head could be if put in such scenario. As I walked to the mart which was right in front of the bus, I kept an eye on my luggage. I even glanced at him a few times, just to see if he had any trigger in his hands. I quickly returned back to the bus and walked towards him. He was busy chatting away on his cellphone and took him a few seconds to realize that I was right in front of him.

I handed him the bottle of water and returned the change.

The ride from KLIA to LCCT was approximately 15 minutes – 20 minutes and during that whole journey, the man who was seating just a couple of rows behind me, kept staring at me. Of course I didn’t turn around to look lah. Have you had this feeling of someone watching you? That’s what I felt and I used the side of your eye to check. That’s what I did and there he was vulture-ing behind me.

It wasn’t long after, we reached LCCT and I quickly took my things and dashed out without even glancing or acknowledging the man. I just kept on walking towards the entrance. Before entering the building, I turned back to see his whereabouts. The strange thing was he never got off the bus eventhough LCCT was the only stop.

Weird fella but the incident didn’t bother me much. I took it as though I helped someone who was in need of help.
