Spiderman III and Tornado

*NO SPOILERS FOR EITHER MOVIE*

I was suppose to go back to Penang for an unofficial one week break ( Thursday – Installation of the King, Tuesday – Labour’s day, Wednesday – Wesak Day, replacement since it falls on the same day as Labour’s Day) but my parents came down to KL instead.

I brought them for a movie and there wasn’t much choice in KLCC. My brother suggested Tornado and my dad agreed blindly without listening to my rants. I had a bad feeling that this movie was gonna suck.

A mere 40 minutes later … (note: the running time of the movie is 1 hour 36 minutes)

… my family and i walked off from the cinema. The movie did suck, with a capital ‘S’.

First of all the movie was dubbed from German to English. It sounded like those Iron Chef program where the dubbed voices tried too hard to cope with the facial expression of the Japanese people.

Second the movie shown was bad in terms of quality. It was pixelated and the screen kept shaking.

Lastly, the storyline was kinda choppy. I think the editor did a nasty job and the plot was everywhere.

Bottomline : Spare your 11bucks and get yourself an ice cream or better still, watch Spiderman III.

The next day we wasted time in OneUtama. My sister and mum were busy shopping while my bro, my dad and i lingered around in the main atrium. SonyEricsson was having some roadshow about Spiderman 3 and their latest line of products. Off and on the emcees will have contest regarding Spidey or SonyEricsson products.

My bro kept bugging me to go over and try answering the Qs. When i reached there, i found out that they were giving away free tix for the premier of Spiderman III. My bro jumped in and manage to get hold of 2 tickets. He, being a big Spidey fan was ecstatic. Unfortunately my dad told him, if he wanted to go, then the whole family would have to tag along and 2 tickets wouldn’t be enough.

So he bugged me again and asked me and my smaller bro to try again. This time they asked questions regarding SonyEricsson phones and it was easy. Towards the end, my bro and i manage to get 2 tickets each and next thing we know, my parents are forced to watch Spiderman 3 with us.

This is the first time i have been to a premier of a movie and best of all, the movie is shown a day before the nationwide release.

The entrance of GSC was packed. People lined up to register themselves before entering the cinema. Those who had cameraphones had to surrender them at a special counter where they sealed the phone in a numbered envelope and a copy of the number was then given to the owner for collection after the movie

Normal phones were allowed in. So many movie goers weren’t really happy surrendering their phones. Some even asked if they could switch off the phone and bring it in but the answer was always no. After surrendering my phone, i continued walking to cinema 7.

Just before we entered the cinema, there was some tight ass security check where every patron has go through. This was probably stricter than the airport. They had some device to scan for electronic devices and waved it round my body. Those who ignored the instruction earlier to surrender the phone were asked to go back down or risk missing the movie all together.

Once in the cinema, security guards walked up and down the aisle looking at us one by one.

I have never seen so many guards guarding a cinema before and at one point i thought i would see Lucky and Flo in action. But then again, they are only trained to sniff pirated CDs and DVDs not video capturing devices.

Even during the movie, guards were constantly checking on us.

As for the movie, it had more humour than usual and i kinda liked it. Sadly though, i wasn’t feeling well as i was down with fever, sore throat and flu. Can’t wait to catch the next time with Lingster.
