A French weekend at the Curve

Disappointed. That’s what i can say about Marche. I have heard many of my friends having lunch and dinner in Marche and i thought this place has to be good. Other wise, they wouldn’t have returned for a second time.
As for me. it’s definitely my first and last visit to Marche.
Lingster and i were at the Curve last weekend and we decided to drop by at Marche for a late lunch. As we were waiting in line, we were showed how their card system worked whereby each patron will be given a card and as we order, the card will be stamped. More or less the same as Food Loft in Gurney Plaza Penang but here they use rubber stamps to mark the card.
After getting our table, we walked around to see what we could order. Marche has a very nice setting. It’s more like a Sunday market where you could see fresh vegetables, fruits, meat and poultry but with a European touch. That’s how i knew the meaning of Marche (Marche =Market, in French). To be honest, the choices were quite limited and more over the section for meat and poultry had a rather rude cook. If i had a baseball bat with me, i would have personally given him a few blows to show him how frustrated i was. With all the noise coming from his cooking area and not forgetting the chattering of some patrons, he walked off when i asked him to repeat what he muttered at me. Lingster did suggest to walk off since we haven’t stamped anything on our card yet but i was still adamant to stay on.
The strawberry cheesecake was really nice. It wasn’t too heavy or too light. It had the right texture. But i would go for the New York Cheesecake from Starbucks any time.
Lamb chop with black pepper sauce
Chicken chop with mushroom sauce
The lamb chop and chicken chop was normal and for that price, TGIF would have been a better option. After paying the bill, i told Lingster that there’s no reason why i should return. My personal rating would be 2 out of 5 and that’s for the fella at the entrance and the setting of the place. Though Marche means market but it doesn’t mean the people manning the place should act like they are in one. If only that cook would have just been a cook and not a butcher, i wouldn’t have complained much.
The main reason i went to the Curve was to shop for a new pair of jeans and a pair of shoes. A few days back, some dodo bird stole my Nike Cortez. I was happy cause it gave me a reason to buy a new pair of shoes and was equally sad because that’s the first pair of shoes that i purchased with my hard earned money after working part time during the holidays. The Cortez was already in a bad shape as the sole was giving way. So this time around when i was looking for a new pair, i made sure that the sole is stitched to shoe and not just glued. It is a nuisance to have the front sole flapping up and down like a crocodile’s mouth when the glue gives way.
After browsing through a few shoes and after checking the balance of my account -_-” I finally got myself a Nike Air Zoom Infiltrator. The name sounds rather sophisticated but as long as it serves it’s purpose, i will be happy with it.
Besides shopping and eating, we caught Ratatouille (pronounced as Rat-A-too-ee) at Cineleisure. Ratatouille means stewed vegetable dish in French. I can say that Pixar has done it again and yes, “Anyone can cook.”

david: yeap, that’s true. but even if i was to ignore that particular matter, the food didn’t win me over either

They seriously need to work on their food presentation. Damn suck. Taste wise also nothing to shout about.
But I heard Singapore’s Marche faired much much much better than Malaysia. On top of that, they serve pork too!
Just stopping by to tell you that my blog has switched it’s URL.
