Ipoh For A Day

Two weeks back, i had the chance to drop by Ipoh and to tell you the truth whenever i was back there i never enjoyed it. My parents would visit the same old places like where i used to live and show around the hospital that my dad used to work in. You get the drill. This time however, it was nothing close to that.
Wendy was kind enough to show around. The first stop was at one of Ipoh’s famous Bean Sprout Chicken called Onn Kee which i mentioned a few entries ago. Then we went to the famous Old Town for Cham Ping and this particular shop is where the Old Town coffee originates from where you can see it being franchised all around the country.

I have always passed by this place but never had the chance to explore and this time i finally get to see what’s behind the hidden caves. It’s Sam Poh Tong. Once you have gone thru a long tunnel-like cave, you would come to an opened space where this beautiful building is sitting hidden from everything else. Opposite it is an enclosed area for tortoises.

The whole pond is infested with tortoises, big and small.

While looking through some parts of the temple, we found this super steep stairs leading to another cave on the top. So we climbed all the way to the top but just to run back down after a bat appeared out of no where @_@
Already tired from the climb up and down the stairs, we still had to dash from the parking attendant which wanted us to pay though the parking was free @_@

On the way out, i noticed a stretch of shops selling Pamelo. I tell you this was really akward. Each shop had the same display of pamelos but it’s the owner that differs. I had no idea which shop to go to and randomly picked shop number 43 46 @_@ Immediately i was given 2 slices of pamelos, one was sweet and another was sour. I brought back 3 fruits and it didn’t survived the night because my mum and i finished it immediately
Before we left Ipoh, we had dinner and i have to say i was glad i ate. Had i not eaten i would have had to make unnecessary stops to grab a bite.

Belacan Asparagus Bamboo Shoots
I went back to Penang all stuffed @_@

Ahem.. the stall was number 46! And then hor, it’s Belacan Bamboo Shoots not Asparagus! Ahahahahaha~ Apa la you! =P
