Yogyakarta Day 2: Swimming pool filled with wives

After Prambanan temple, we headed back to our guest house and packed. Some of us took a quick shower while some waiting at the lobby. We were only asked to pay before leaving which worked in my favour, as i had no idea how the place was gonna be and paying over the net wouldn’t be ideal. We got into our van and left for the Water Castle which is in the middle of the town, nearby the fun fair we were at the night before. As i have said in the previous entries that we only had less than 24 hours in Yogyakarta because of a last minute change in our flight schedule. That didn’t really hamper our plans, we just had to make sure we used the time well to cover the three main point of interests in Yogyakarta. The first day was dedicated for Borobudur, simply because it was really far. The next morning was Prambanan, which is actually on the way to the airport and after checking out, we would drop by Taman Sari, which is also on the way. The Water Castle also known as Taman Sari acted as the bathing complex for the then

McLaren Mercedes Merchandise, thanks to Lenovo Malaysia!

Published by in f1 on April 22nd, 2010

Having the chance to be one of few to experience what is it like to be in the garage of the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 team was simply AWESOME ! All this were made possible by Lenovo Malaysia ! So a big big big thank you Lenovo Malaysia and also not forgetting Lenovo Singapore ! While i was still in a state of awe the days after that, i received an email again saying there’s a package for me and i decided to collect it on my own. I was given a bag filled with Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Merchandise. Ahhhh, damn nice can ! Since this experience was published in the papers, they took the liberty of putting the article in a transparent frame for me I finally had the chance to try it out after being down having fever, sorethroat and cold for the past few days. Not the best representation but it’s better than nothing i guess Thank You Lenovo Malaysia !

Do you Tumblr?

Published by in blog on April 22nd, 2010

I came across this platform quite sometime back but it never clicked me to use it as i am always on the go and i needed something on my phone which was fast enough to punch away and attach photos if possible. Then i was told by Joshua that there’s an app for Tumblr in AppStore. There and then, i downloaded and started off. Not like it’s gonna replace this blog but at least now i have a place to post up random pictures and also write super random entries. The past few hours i realized there are quite a number of people that already have or had just registered with Tumblr. The next big question was whether it does the same like blogspot. Well you do have to get use to it’s way of handling different categories of entries. These are the categories for your entries and each of it will have slightly different presentation which is kinda cool ! I have yet to try all of it but by the looks of how the quotes appeared, i can say the rest should be as eye pleasing as the rest. One problem i had was that there’s no comment

Yogyakarta Day 2: Prambanan Temple – Largest Hindu Temple in Indonesia

We woke up early the next morning as the journey to Prambanan was quite far and on top of that, we had a flight to catch in the afternoon. For the complimentary breakfast, i had Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) and a cup of coffee. Everyone was informed to do their packing in the morning itself so that we don’t rush later on and once we were all set, we shot off towards Prambanan. On the way, we stopped at a traffic light and come across the above scene, lol. Never expected to see them in the broad daylight, more over in the middle of the road. After 40 odd minutes, we finally arrived ! Prambanan – It’s the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia and one of the biggest in South East Asia and it was the answer to Borobudur temple which was for the Buddhist. When Angeline and i planned this trip, we marked this 2 places as the main agendas for both the days. Die die also must go see cause both are listed in the UNESCO’s heritage site. For foreigners, the ticket price is $11USD and if you can present your Student ID then it’s $6USD. An additional

MH Mobile App: A first for everything

Published by in MAS on April 9th, 2010

This is my experience on using Malaysia Airlines’ app on the iPhone. Purchasing and getting the confirmation was the easy part but what i was worried about was checking in via the app itself. Not that i am worried about the system failing on me but worried that the staffs around the airport not recognizing it. It’s a typical scenario here in Malaysia, where a company roles out something and their staffs go “Huh? Got such thing meh?” >.<! True enough, it actually happened >.<! Upon checking in online, i received their online barcode thus eliminating any form of paper. Not sure what was i suppose to do with when i arrived at KLIA, i headed to Self Check In area and asked the guy in-charge over there and he himself wasn’t sure and asked me to line up. The whole idea of this online check in was to skip the line, so i walked around and found another MAS staff where i showed her my phone. She smiled and said,”Sir you can head directly to the Departure gate and they will scan your phone. There’s no need for boarding pass.” Phewww thank God for her. I skipped the super

Surviving on loose change

Published by in personal on April 7th, 2010

I have done it last year and I am doing it again this year. Probably some of you must be wondering what am I talking about. Last week I ran out of cash and instead of driving to the bank, I decided to live off my loose change. Coins collected for the past 5 months were used for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Personally I was wondering how long could I last with my coins? The people that I pay to are usually on both extremes; either they hate your guts or love you. Last Saturday I was in a rush back and so I asked for take away. When I was told it’s RM 8.40, I removed RM 1.60 as I had 10 ringgit worth of coins. The fella gave me a long stare and started counting one by one LOL. Can’t blame him also. You wouldn’t want to be short changed at the end of the day. Last year I lasted on loose change for 3 days and this time I managed to get from Wednesday till …. … Sunday ! That’s 5 days worth of coins lying around in my room. My loose change usually comes from parking

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 Garage Tour by Lenovo Malaysia

Published by in f1 on April 5th, 2010

More than a week ago, i received an email from a representative from Lenovo asking me to block my Thursday as i was chosen to experience the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 Garage tour by Lenovo Malaysia. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to get close to this mean machines and also the team behind it. I was dumbstruck when i read the mail. I have attended F1 races a couple of times but never had i gone to the garage. Actually i did go to the garage once but that was during the Porshe Race a year back. I was asked to be at the Lenovo office by 9.30am and upon arrival, i was greeted by Blake who brought me to the office pantry where everyone was having breakfast, Nasi Lemak. I was joined by 2 journalists, Brian aka Goldfries and the staffs of Lenovo including Mr Khoo who is the Country General Manager. After breakfast, we moved to the conference room where we were all briefed by Mr Khoo on how Lenovo and McLaren Mercedes works together in F1. Last year, Lenovo pumped 2100 equipments into the team and redesigned their IT infrastructure. All these to help

An award for my blog or April Fools Prank?

Published by in blog on April 2nd, 2010

Yesterday i had the chance to be at the Sepang F1 Circuit for a tour around Vodafone McLaren Mercedes garage thanks to Lenovo Malaysia. Basically it’s to highlight how Lenovo has been integrated into the team and it’s definitely an eye opener. That i will talk about in my upcoming entry. What i wanted to focus on was that yesterday was April 1st, April Fools Day and i have always tried to be more alert when it comes to pranks. After having breakfast with the good people of Lenovo Malaysia, we were briefed by Mr Khoo on how Lenovo and F1. After the briefing, he was to give out a token of appreciation and naturally i took my camera out. Little did i know, i was the recipient when i was called up. Looking rather confused, i think i took a good few seconds that it’s not a prank and i better get myself up there. Upon receiving, i was amazed that my name was on it as well as my url. MY BLOG URL ! I was like woahhhhh ! I had had trophies for scrabble, monopoly and even cooking competition *yes i won 1st prize in cooking and
