I suddenly had the inspiration to blog about Cambodia again after Chiaw Yin passed a very random statement over on Facebook.

“Mr Shiya is very good”.

I was cracking my head on who is this fella and why is she telling me this. Then it clicked me ! Mr Shiya aka Siya was our tourguide in Siem Reap and i used to call him as Ya. I knew Chiaw Yin was in Siem Reap not long ago but i never knew she also got him as her guide.

The best part was, she said he still remembers me ! ^.^

But to be frank, he is one hell of a guide, to be honest. Though we occasionally teach him the wrong things in Hokkien, hahahaa. I really hope the guide i am getting in Indonesia would be as good and enthusiastic as Siya

Back to my writing, I am still in 3rd day of Siem Reap of the 4 days we were there. The picture above shows a note from one of the kid saying she isn’t well to do and she supports the family by selling books. The thing about the kids, they really look pitiful but if you don’t play their game then you will just end up being cursed. As for the books, after closer inspection you would noticed that it’s photocopied. Just the cover is coloured. So yeah bargain hard.

We were back in Angkor Wat after having breakfast in Jasmine Lodge. By this time around in the day you would see plenty of tourists flocking by the bus loads to the main entrance. Security is tight as usual. So it’s advisable to keep your daily pass properly at all time.

Sometimes i wondered how the people of the that time used the stairs ? Were they all using their four limbs like Emily and Ai Ling ? Btw, this is the library. For some reason, this is the only part of Angkor Wat that i can remember well. LOL my memory damn bad T.T

The women in this trip are really hardy women, hahaha. No joke. I was worried at the beginning on how would they handle such situation where dust, heat and walking are common in this trip. Cha Bo power, rofl. For their hardiness, the upcoming trip to Bali should be a little challenging. Let’s see how the sister no. 1,2 and 3 handle

We were in Angkor Wat until late evening before heading back to wash up.

For dinner, we were brought to Amazon Angkor Restaurant. Here the dinner served is buffet style and there’s a huge variety of food but the main attraction is the performance. Different styles of dance by the locals are performed during the whole course of the dinner. It’s kinda touristy and commercialized so it may not appeal to those who only wants hardcore local standards.

As for me i loved it. I mean after walking like cow for hours, i just wanted to sit and enjoy my food with some ambiance and this place was perfect.

After dinner we went for walk walk at their night market. Everyone started to unleash their bargaining skills, buying what they could afford. Price wise it’s really cheap, especially when you buy in a big quantity. So if you are in group, gather a few to buy.

But if the price doesn’t appeal to you, you can try the stalls out of the night market. Since they are slight out of the main area, they would be able to lower down even more. But if that also not good enough for you, then just go to the old market place. You can get shirts are 2ringgit there, lol. The down side is the place starts to close down at 9.30pm unlike this Night Market. Further more the atmosphere here is much better.

Before heading back to call it a day, we headed to the local so called pub. I had their Angkor beer but Aaron decided to do one better

I received a forwarded message stating how dirty one of the restaurants in SS2 is. Then it triggered me to write a few random things on food and also their services. Instead of having a few individual entries, i might as well write all in one to clear the backlog i am having @_@

It has been in a while since i had dim sum and when William asked i was interested in tagging along, i never hesistated a bit. To be frank i am not sure where is it and all i did was drive to God knows where and it wasn’t near as i can remember.

I was so used to having dim sum hot hot from the tray and i was surprised when the fella took away the plates that i chose. Then later on i was told that they would actually heat up once you have picked. LOL that was really something different. As usual the price was according to KL’s standard and taste was like normal

For the past few weeks i have been deprieved of sleep and when it came to the final day of submission, Gary and i went to McD for breakfast just to fill out stomaches before hibernating like bears. But to my dismay, i had a slight problem with the staffs over at McD. I was already drained for not having enough sleep, thus being moody. Then this lady comes with a high pitch voice denying what i was trying to convey.

Here’s the situation, I was about to order the breakfast value meal when Gary pointed the happy meal to me. The reason was because i wanted to change the free tea/coffee to milo and since i had to pay extra, Gary asked why not get the Happy Meal since it’s shown on the board that it comes with milo, hence the picture above.

So I asked the lady for the happy meal instead.

She immediately said that then i have to pay a certain amount for the milo cause it comes with coke instead >_<”

Then i pointed to the board saying that it shows the plus sign with the burger, so why do i have to pay ?

She gave some reason that i couldn’t be bothered off and ordered the the normal meal instead. I was already tired and hungry and if i did continue arguing, i could have lost my cool and walked off instead.

Even Gary tried to reason out with her but it probably fell onto deaf ears.

As the saying goes, “A hungry man is an angry man”.

I should have just gone to the market and got myself wan tan mee rather than having McD breafast -_-”

Vegetarian food isn’t how it used to be. In fact i enjoy it even more these days especially with restaurants trying to maintain the taste and style eventhough it’s vegetarian. Last week i had Vegetarian Singapore Bihun and Mushroom Fried Rice and boy was it delicious …. in terms of price lol. But seriously it tasted good.

Recently i was bloghopping and was at Deb’s blog when she wrote about Bubba Gump Shrimp and i thought of having it go. Too bad i had to rely on my cameraphone rather than my DSLR. From the service to the food, everything was top notch. We were ushered to our places when we got there and i couldn’t stop looking around as the setting was one of it’s kind. It has that old shabby look, with wooden paneling and zinc being used.

We ordered both their recommended choices, dumbluck prawns served with cajun marmalade and bourbon street barramundi. Thought the price was steep but the atmosphere, the food as well as the service could make you think otherwise.

For dessert, i had no idea what to order when the waiter asked. I recalled seeing one that i was interested while flipping through the menu earlier on. So i described to the waiter it was that chocolate thing and he smiled and said, ” Why don’t i get you the menu”

When i got the menu and checked for the one i was referring, it was named, “That chocolate thing !” LOL, how ironic is that. Probably they themselves couldn’t come up with a name and left it as, “That chocolate thing”.

That Chocolate Thing consist of ice cream, with chocolate fudge i think and chocolate cake with strawberry syrup ? Something like that, i was just too busy digging in that my taste buds lost track -_-”

April is gonna be one busy, i mean really BUSY month !

Miss ChunHuey, thanks for being part of my April Fool prank, lol. Please don’t ask Wah to kill me ya Unfortunately i never got to prank others @_@ No one believed what i said even when i was telling the truth. 24 hours of poor frustration

When she found out that HH actually did treat us Chillis, she decided to do the same and she took it a step further. I was the only one there and i was brought to Aji Noren. I had no idea that this place existed and it’s behind Prima Tanjung which is opposite Island Plaza.

Upon arriving there you’ll see stacks and stacks of comic books just in front of the counter. I am not sure if that’s suppose to be a deco or it’s really meant to be read by the customers. The place was kinda packed when we reached there and we couldn’t get the special hut looking cubicles.

So we ended up sitting in those normal cubicle. As you can see the hut looking cubicles are set ala japanese style, where you sit on the floor and eat But as usual ler, i rather sit on a chair. Damn lazy to cross my legs and then after half an hour i would have to change my leg position cause i can’t feel one of it anymore. You get the drill -_-”

Definitely there’s better pictures of her but i just wanted to show the more ‘dungu’ side of her, lol. Noticed her handphone screen glowing ? Well the constant sms that she gets is practically more than what i get in a month or probably in a year. So you can imagine how busy this dungu woman is.

Since this was my first time, i was recommended to go for the set rather than ala carte cause i personally had no idea what to order.

The food was good and i felt like a stuffed turkey even before i could finish my bowl of rice. I would recommend this place to any Japanese food lover. For a change try a different place rather than the same old Sushi King, Genki Sushi, etc.

Right after dinner, HH called up and he said he wanted to go bowling. So off we went to Penang Bowl but later we realized that it would be insane to be bowling after being stuffed like that. After a couple of cat fights near Penang Bowl, we decided to meet up for a movie instead. Three of us watched the sneak preview for 27 Dresses Overall the movie was ok only ler. Didn’t go gaga over it but still it’s watchable if you wanna kill time

Yesterday marked the 3rd year of me being involved with Apple products. I couldn’t believe that time passed by that fast and it was just like yesterday when there’s only 10 or less in the entire team and right now there’s like 60 plus. Our annual dinner this time was held at E&O Penang and theme given was black/white for the guys and pink for the girls unlike last year where we had to dress up as professions.

I took this opportunity to use my DSLR to the max and i ended up with 500 over pictures -_-” Of course not all turned out well. But i have to say that when you are equiped with a DSLR, people just tend to pose and wouldn’t mind if their pictures are taken. And this is regardless if you are noob or an expert I barely know how to use all the buttons on the camera and there i was snapping away like i have been doing it for years -_-” So please bear with my amateurish shots

The man behind the scene: Since Mr Li’s birthday was a few days back, everyone decided to celebrate it at the dinner itself. I wanna take this opportunity to thank Mr Li for the iPod Touch

The dinner was not bad, it had a theme which was East Meets West. Definitely better than last year which i had a hard time filling my stomach. Right after dinner there were lucky draws and games.

The first game was bread eating competition. Unfortunately for me i was called up when i was in fact trying to wave at someone -_-”

Annual dinner 2008

I was told that boynet8 aka Chee Min will be leaving for South Korea at the end of the month for his Masters in Dongseo Univeristy, Busan, South Korea. I know Hoo Mun is there but is in a different course from what boynet8 will be pursuing.

A short history on boynet8: I have known him since 2002 when we met in the Early Entrance Program and he was one of the Penangites i knew besides Espirit, Timun-timun, Mike, mmudevils and soonjin. We were all then housemates in our foundation year of our degrees.

He came down to KL yesterday and we all gathered at a steamboat restaurant in Sunway.

One thing about this place is, everyone seems to love their chicken. There’s nothing special about the chicken but i think it’s the thrill of waiting and fighting over a tray of chicken which only comes every 15 minutes. The chicken would be snapped up within a minute or two. Well most of the time, a flat 30 seconds is all you need to see an empty tray.

This is the chicken i was talking about. We sent out two push overs to get the chicken. Ray and Dranreb manage to come back with 2 plates

Boynet8 was bombarded with questions after questions regarding his current work in Penang and also about his future studies in Busan.

After the steamboat, someone suggested to play pool in Asia Cafe and the next thing we know, we ended up playing foosball -_-” Although we manage to play pool for a short time but the foosball was really nerve wrecking.

Some of us got bored of waiting for the pool game to finish and decided to hang around in Starbucks till the rest are done. There i found a stack of UNO cards and we played.

Check out Weng Chong. I told him back in primary school, i always played UNO with my friends who had specs (eg. Alan Teoh, Pam), simply because i could see the reflection of their cards Next thing i know, he took off his specs.

Just when i thought we were going to go back, someone suggested to go to McD -_-” At this point, my biological clock needs serious configuration. I normally sleep off at 11 or 12 and 3am was wayyyyyyy off my bed time.

We sat there and talked and talked. I think after an hour, we all left. It was really a crazy outing and i enjoyed the foosball and especially UNO where Weng Chong had to draw 18 cards ! after everyone placed their +2 and +4 cards and it accumulated to that much

E-Nite is back and for certain reasons i am pretty excited cause i don’t have to go through another U-Nite. E-Nite, probably the most anticipated event for any engineering student was held in the Palace of Golden Horses.

As usual, i never spent anything on clothes. I only forked out for my ticket. Lingster on the other hand had to, i mean not like she wanted to but was more like forced to do so. If girls tried saving money on something, they will eventually spend it on something else, ahem.

I reached there approximately 7pm and was kind of surprised to see less people than expected.

Lingster checked our table and no one was there. We waited at the entrance till the crowd picked up.

Finally about 7.30pm the entrance was buzzing with people around and flashes from cameras were everywhere. Besides dining and being entertained, prom is one of the only time where everyone gets to take photos with the peers, in style.

Unfortunately, my camera is an old 3.2megapixel ixus and even LiShih laughed at the condition of my camera -_-” Don’t be surprised to see off focused pictures in this post cause i don’t have much to pick from.

Sim Ee Wei – one of the few Penangites from Group B. Has shown me the right place to eat in Penang. I will never forget the time when he brought me and the rest to Sungai Udang and i told him, if it’s going to be disappointing, i will drive to Ipoh for chicken rice since i am already on the way. He guaranteed that i wouldn’t have to do that Love to have him around as he has always been jovial and because of him, i like to gamble … ahem. Peace

Tan Jee Wei – was the first person whom i made friends with when i first stepped into MMU. I remember him coming up to me and asking if i was the same person in his English tuition Most of the penangites in Group B are from Mainland. Only Jee Wei and i were from the island. We had to change bus either at the toll in Jawi or Butterworth before heading to the island. Ardent Man United fan and is one of the two people whom i talk about Man United. The other person would be Sue Anne

Gusman – People were already puzzled with my name and i was puzzled with his. Also part of the group B during EEP. Got to know him even better when he become my housemate in Alpha. He had a collection of … that amazed me. He used to blast his speakers with those weird noise and girls from the opposite block in Emerald Park would be shouting. I wonder if Chiaw Yin, MingChu or Vivien heard anything >_<" Also another fan of Man United and he has an eye for goals. I always hate to be the keeper whenever he is on the opposing team :P David Liow – one word, tall. Just like Gusman, he was also my housemate back in Alpha. I always admired his guitar skills. I am not sure if it’s you (David) or Wei Chung who played some tune over the phone to some girl on the next block and all of us monkey-ed around. One of the most memorable moments i can remember about him was F1. I think it was 2003 when i met him at the F1 Circuit. His father gave me a lift back from Sepang to Melaka but we had to stop at his house first. Nope it was nothing about the trip but it was the dinner. His mum prepared so many dishes and i was invited to dine. As i was eating his mum kept asking me to eat more and obviously i was kinda shy. Then she said something that almost got me choked, ” I cooked all extra for you “. Even david didn’t eat much and i had to finish at least of one the dishes That’s why now i fit well in my blazer, ahem …. jk jk.

Amri – Blame Canada, Blame Canada, Blame Canada. To those who don’t know the tune, check for old episodes of Southpark. Coming into MMU, i never had any friends who had slang and he was probably one of the first few, besides Adli. He had this cool Sony phone which could record your voice and use it as a ringtone. I know almost any phone can do that now but at that time, everyone was in the 3310 club and he wasn’t. I am not sure who or was it even me, recorded, “F*ck you” and left it as his ringtone. He never allowed any of us to touch his phone again.

Another Lim, Nicholas – my ex room mate for Beta. Suppose to have a Kenari club with him but i ditched the idea and went for the MyVi club. Thought me a lot regarding softwares especially in photoshop. I realised everything he has, had to be systematic and in order. From desktops, to his table and bed. At times he is quiet but you have to know him well to know that he is one chatterbox. When my mum found out i was staying with him, she asked how come you have so many friends with the surname Lim ? Helped me so much in E-Run, especially in making last minute certs for the participants when we found out one stack was missing

Lih Ren aka Hitler – I used to call him Hitler but i thought it was inappropriate after sometime. Though he wasn’t in group B but we still had some connection from some where, can’t really remember how. Always made fun with my name and keep relating it to Japan and it’s suppose to be some girl’s name and all. Just for your information, he goes round disguising himself as V for Vendetta.

Jian – was Sim’s housemate in Alpha and that’s how i got to know him and also Eu Jin. In alpha, he came over to my place in EP and asked everyone to take off their shirts and stand in front of the mirror. After that he asked one by one to bend over in a hunching position. As one of us did, he laughed and asked, “You see that bulge over your left shoulder ???”. Victim replied, ” Ya, what about it ?”. He replied, ” You use your left hand is it ? ” and everyone burst into laughter. That night, i saw a few people trying out in front of the mirror by themselves to see if it worked >_<"

Lingster, Sim and Ah Fai. Speaking of Ah Fai, he was in group A if i am not mistaken but i used to drop by his room in Alpha cause Juon Wor was his room mate. Eventhough he wasn’t staying with us at that time, he still joined us whenever we had anything going on, eg. gambling, ahem. In Beta he always the one who will initiate all to CS or warcraft. Having the latest tech and gadget is a norm. Whenever i talk about something, Ah Fai most probably has it or had it

My camera has to be dead still and so are the people, to make sure i have a perfect picture and not like the one above. If you noticed Sim just zoomed in like Superman and i had so many people doing the Superman move. One or two is alright but having a bunch is an eye sore. I can’t even pick a decent picture of some of my friends.

One good example is this picture over here. Lingster was busy focusing on something else and we all decided to zoom in out of a sudden. What a bunch of useless heroes …. hahahaha.

Almost two months back, i blogged about my participation along with Lingster and Khek Yang in a 3G competition which was held at KLCC. We did our best and we came out short. When i say that we came out short, i meant really really short. The first team arrived 60 seconds earlier than us and in between that another team sneaked in right ahead of us. So we were third.

Everyone knew that there’s only one winner and the winner will get 3 units of 6680. The rest, nothing.

Two months passed by and last Sunday, i received a sms saying there would be free dinner and prize giving ceremony at Hard Rock Cafe. I immediately called up Lingster and she too received the sms but replied to them that she can’t make it as she’s in Penang. Same goes to Khek. He called me moments after i ended my call with Lingster.

This is the first time i am dining in Hard Rock Cafe, simply because it’s hardcore expensive.

We were given a different menu to choose from as there’s a budget set by the sponsors. We had to choose one starter, one main course, one dessert and one drink.

We started off with Smoked Chicken, Spinach & Artichoke Dip. It’s comprised off tortilla chips, salsa and the special dip.

We didn’t know it cost that much till we referred back to the actual menu. Personally i think, it wasn’t worth it. I rather have the chicken wings.

Then came to the main course. Our table had a hard time choosing. We wasted like 10-15 minutes deciding what to take and in the end we took the one which sounded good -_-”

And that would be the Hickory Bar-B-Que Chicken

At first only 4 out of 5 of us ordered the chicken, then Alan joined the bandwagon after seeing ours.

In terms of portion, it’s pretty big and i myself couldn’t finish my half chicken.

Disaster

Then it was time for dessert. Since we knew the portion were big, instead of ordering 5 desserts, we decided to share so we could have more variety.

We took their Homestyle Cheesecake. I felt damn bloody fat after having one scoop of this sinful cake. I was suppose to take care of my diet but i just couldn’t help it

Then we ordered Apple Cobbler. It had chunks of apple, caramel sauce and a bit of cinnamon sprinkled on the large scoop of ice cream. This was terrible. It was too sweet for my liking. Every scoop i took, i had to drink some water. I ended up eating the ice cream alone and left the rest there.

We knew we had 3 more desserts to order, so we ordered the same thing -_-”

When all of us (including other attendees) finished out dessert, the organizers started the prize giving ceremony and i could see all the happy faces receiving their new 3G phones. Oh, just if you didn’t know, there were like 6 or 7 competitions held through that one week and the one Khek, Lingster and I joined was called the LBS competition. It’s sort of like a treasure hunt but the map is in the phones provided and we had to use it to find out the coordinates.

I didn’t expect much eventhough they had given me some hint that my team would get something. What i had in my mind was a big hamper, filled with sweets -_-”

But i was wrong. I was handed 3 small boxes which had Nokia logo printed all over it.

Three units of nokia 2610. Definitely better than nothing
