The Chronicles of Cambodia 1 – Food in Phnom Penh

The long awaited trip was finally here and to be frank i was more scared than excited. Imagine having the responsibility to make sure all six others were taken care off but at the same time enjoy the planned backpacking experience. I had request from a few on what they would love to do and see. So trying to please everyone was close to impossible. But i did try my best to incorporate all The idea of Cambodia was actually first conceived when a few of us were in Redang and after scouting around for tickets on AirAsia, we finally found a suitable date. I have gone through tonnes of iternaries from different agencies, trying to a get an overall view on what is normally organized. But having pledged that i am gonna make it a backpacking trip instead, i had to make sure that the budget was kept to a bare minimum. I had to read on main historical points in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap so it would be easy for me to set the route on where to go and when. After reading a number of blogs on how they experienced their trips to Cambodia, i

Back from the Killing Fields

I am finally back ! My head hurts … My arms and legs are aching … … but my stomach is FULL. Full with good nutritious Cambodian food, hehehe. Simply love their bread and pork ! I have tonnes of things to do but so little time to finish them >.< Keep an eye on Malaysian Dream Girl as my write up should be published in the next few days. Nothing extra ordinary, just simple reporting on the auditions which was held in Impiana KLCC not too long back. Btw, anyone watching Obama’s Inauguration as the 44th President of United States ?

Nuffnang = Cambodia

I am finally back! Well let me say that i am very excited to see what 2009  have installed for me. In slightly more than a week from now, i will be off to Cambodia for 6 days with 6 friends of mine and that is definitely gonna  have me missing  from my blog yet again. The idea of Cambodia was first conceived when i was strolling about on the sandy beach of Redang Island after a crazy day at Nipple Island. Initially, in the morning, i received a call from my mum saying i had cheques from Nuffnang and that she had already banked it in. Knowing i had extra cash in hand, i jokingly asked William and Angeline, … “Come let’s go Cambodia ….” William was fast to say he was in. I can’t even be sure if he even took time to think Angeline on the hand took probably a few seconds longer before agreeing to join the bandwagon … … and that’s how things got rolling. One by one the rest joined in, Lee May, Aaron, Ai Ling and Emily. I am excited, everyone is excited cause no one knows what is gonna happen as our

Malaysian Ringgit had the same value as Singaporean Dollar

Well that’s what one Singaporean lady told me when i was queueing at Burger King for my lunch. I was actually at Singapore Expo that particular day and since it was lunch hour, i thought of giving Burger King a try since they do serve pork compared to Malaysia. So as i was lining up, i took my wallet off to reach for a ten dollar bill. I was scanning through the notes until i came to an orangish, yellowish bill. As i pulled it out my eyes grew larger and larger till it clearly showed … “$10 – Sepuluh Ringgit Negara Brunei” I was like goodness gracious, where’s the 10 dollar Sing that was suppose to be there. My reaction was so noticable that a lady on the next queue patted my shoulder and said not to worry, the value is the same as Singaporean Dollar. I sighed in relief and said, “Really ? That was a close call.” LOL Then i was given a brief history lesson about currencies by this lady Once upon a time, when your parents were still in their teens …. (ok i made that up). Many decades ago, when Malaysia was just formed,

Photohunters – Lazy

Probably the only time where i couldn’t care less about what was happening in the real world was during my recent Redang trip. Not only did i switch of my phone most of the times so that no one would bug me, i also lazed around. Taking a break from my usual hectic shedule was what i needed at that point of time. Had i gone home and done the exact same thing, i would definitely be called a lazy bum by my mum, lol. So i carried all my lazy-ness with me and used it well on this small Redang island I was soooo lazy that at one point i didn’t want to leave my bed for lunch. Well that’s until William came barging into the room, making sure i was out of bed -_-” LOL. Speaking of William, i wanna thank him for the above taken photos Any of you following the presidential debate in the US ? Have a great weekend everyone … !

Redang – Finale

Published by in holiday on July 21st, 2008

Thankfully when i was in Redang the only time it rained was at night and probably drizzled a couple of times in the day. So none of our activities were jeopardized by the weather. One of the snorkeling spots that i liked was the marine park. Though some may say it’s overrated but i think for individuals like me who hardly snorkel let alone swim, this place is definitely a must-swim-location With the white sandy beach stretching as far as your eyes could see and not forgetting the different shapes of fishes swimming in that area, no wonder this is one of the main hot spots for any tourist. The guards had set up a perimeter around the beach and that’s as far anyone is allowed to swim cause any further than that, you could be easily drift off no thanks to the strong current. And let me stress that if ever any of you were to drop by at Redang, just get yourself a lifejacket. Regardless whether you are good swimmer or not, the jacket definitely helps a lot especially when you are swimming against the current. You wouldn’t want to look like a dog yelping for help ….

Redang – Laguna Beach

Published by in holiday on July 9th, 2008

Yes it’s Redang themed entry yet again …. and this time around, some of us journeyed to the otherside of the island to get to Laguna Beach. Since i was zombie-fied when i was there during the first night, this time around i made sure i was all charged up to see what Laguna Beach was all about. Only four of us went over as the rest were pre-occupied with shark-sighting and canoe-ing. So Dolphin, LeeMay, WIlliam and I left right after returning from snorkeling. Midway through, we came across this rocky-pebbley area which is usually covered with water during the night. We walked over it and it wasn’t easy balancing around. The rocks reminded me of Nipple Island. The only difference was this time i had my slippers on

Redang – Nipple Island

Published by in fun, holiday on July 2nd, 2008

After riding on the boat for about half an hour, we finally reached the resort that we were gonna stay for the next four days and three night. Redang Kalong was the name, RK for short. Not to be mistaken for RK House – No Pork, lol.

Redang – The journey to Redang

Published by in holiday on June 27th, 2008

Exactly a week ago, i was sitting in that very chair staring into the sea which surrounds Redang Island and i tell you, it’s one of the few islands that you won’t regret visiting. Pangkor didn’t make that big an impact to me but Redang definitely did. Oh btw, thanks for this picture William The journey to Kuala Terengganu itself was an experience to me

Genting Trip on Nuffnang Pajama Party Day

Published by in holiday on March 21st, 2008

Earlier i was really looking forward for the Nuffnang Pajama Party till the elections were announced to be on the very same day. That made the people over at Nuffnang to push it to the following week which coincidently clashed with my Genting trip. On top of that, I have already paid in advance for the trip @_@ Jin Boone and Amy did ask if i would be there What a waste cause it looked really fun with everyone in their pajamas. Potong stim @_@ This was probably a break i needed before going into a grueling 2 months and then coming back to Penang somewhere at the end of May to shift to my new house. So i am gonna be busy busy busy for the next 3 months -_-” Everything went perfectly as planned and i had loads of fun though most of the time i was on my ipod As usual, Genting was fishing cold ! Photos are courtesy of Hugo and Minny My DSLR was busy hibernating during the whole trip Ahem, it has been a while since i have rode this ride, the Flying Chair ?. Bringing out the child in me -_-”
