Sony Music Facebook Page

By satkuru  //  music  //  8 Comments

I am sure many of you here, if not all are fans of certain music out there. Personally i don’t have a favourite genre in particular. Since music is a universal language, i listen to many different languages. English, Malay, Chinese, Indian songs, just to name a few. Lyrics have their value if you understand well in the language but unfortunately my proficiency in both my mother and father tongue is dreadful. So the best i could do is appreciate the tune, lol

In this generation, every information is pushed out to users like me and you via the internet and to be more precise, social media networks like Facebook and Twitter. Sony Music Malaysia joined the bandwagon by having their very own Facebook Page.

There’s definitely perks of being a fan of their page. Off and on Sony Music Malaysia gives out freebies like CDs, notepads, any sort of merchandise. The most recent one where people were going gaga (no not like lady gaga) but i mean go crazy were the Glee giveaways. There are more to come in the future i am sure, so stay in touch with Sony Music Malaysia by liking their group :D

One of my all time favourite Sony Artist is Anggun. Wonder if some of you could still remember her songs

For those who have blogs, you can win yourselves 2 CDs by blogging about Sony Music Malaysia. To know more, headover here.

Serbian singer copied Bollywood song ?

By satkuru  //  music  //  5 Comments

It’s very rare that i do updates back to back on a daily basis but something caught my attention while i was browsing through perezhilton.com. It was mentioned there that a Serbian singer, Jelena Karleuša, was trying to copy Lady Gaga’s style of of dressing and singing. Not knowing anything i watched the video that was posted up to see the similarities.

The song is called Insomnia and it’s the latest song from the pop singer. Here’s the thing, 30 seconds into the song and i realized i have heard this tune before. I tried humming back the tune to recall the name of the song.

After 5minutes of browsing through my list finally found it. The name of the song is Dance Pe Chance and was from the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring Shah Rukh Khan. The song was introduced by my room mate after he had asked me to watch this movie. After listening to both of the songs back to back, i can confidently say it’s the similar if not the same ! Even the part where the guy sings is similar, hahaha.

Insomnia is Dance Pe Chance on crack.

I am not sure if the original music composers realized the existence of a Serbian version of their song, lol.

I don’t understand both songs cause i don’t understand Hindi nor Serbian but the tune is really catchy :D

You make things better

By satkuru  //  music, personal  //  19 Comments

Our love has changed,
It’s not the same,
And the only way to say it
Is say it .. it’s better.

I can’t concede,
This way I feel,
For all the time we spent, together,
Forever .. just gets better.

See what I’m trying to say is:
You make things .. better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here .. it’s better.

I’ll stand by you,
If you stand by me.
I think time that I, reveal it,
‘Coz I believe it
It’s better

See what I’m trying to say is:
You make things .. better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here .. it’s better

Ooh the more I .. talk .. to .. you
The more in love with
E .. vry .. thing .. you .. do

Doo doo doo doo doo doo

See what I’m trying to say is:
You make things .. better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here .. it’s better

Our love has changed
It’s not the same
And the only way to say it
Is say it .. it’s better

The last time i wrote about a song was more than a year back and that was Closer by Travis. This time around i am totally hooked to Better by Tom Baxter.

I heard this song from the movie Run Fat Boy Run when i watched it around end of last year and i loved how simple the lyrics were and it suited that particular portion of the movie well :P

Boyzone too came out with their version of Better recently and that’s how i found out that Stephen Gately was actually gay :)

On a side note, i have been neglecting my blog ever since my task for my side projects has been doubled for the past weeks. Thankfully all that is gonna end before this weekend :D Besides that, i have been running up and down Penang and KL for the past four weeks. I was at the Penang Food Hunt, helped dolphin with her packing, What a Bloggiful World, Deepavali, house shifting, etc. Busy as hell.

Eunice: I really see you everywhere! :p

Oh and did i mentioned that i got chosen to be part of the ‘Contributor’ team for Malaysian Dream Girls :D I will update on that in the upcoming entries. For the time being, head over to their site and check out DiEsE’s and Willyyilly’s entries ;)

Back to the song, if you are a fan of slow and folk-ish kinda songs i am pretty sure you would love this song together with it’s lyrics. Check out boyzone’s rendition on youtube too :)

Finally the main reason i wrote this entry is actually to dedicate this particular song to someone special. I am not particularly good in revealing my inner feelings like how Charng does, so that’s where this song comes in :)

P/S: No i am not lazy :P

How often do you find the right person? ONCE

By satkuru  //  movies, music  //  9 Comments

406px Onceposter How often do you find the right person? ONCE
This is probably the most naturalistic and believable romantic musical you may ever see and hear. Even though the whole movie was shot using camcorder ala Cloverfield but it suited well with the storyline. Initially i was hooked to one of their songs from their OST and after searching high and low for the movie, i finally watched it today. The expectation i had initially was pretty low knowing that this is a low budget movie which cost them $160,000 but managed to rake in $14 mil.

The Irish romance ONCE may be a musical, but it is miles away from the traditional Hollywood idea of people bursting into song. Glen Hansard (frontman for indie rock band The Frames) plays the guy, a street musician who is playing for change when he meets the girl (Marketa Irglova), an immigrant from the Czech Republic. The pair immediately bond over their shared love of music (he is a guitarist, and she plays the piano), and the film chronicles their tentative relationship. Both are weighed down by plenty of baggage: his songs are fueled by a painful breakup, and she is a young mother who left her husband behind in her native country.

Personally i felt this is easily one of the best movies of 2007 :) And i like their catchy phrase:

How often do you find the right person ? ONCE

As for the song that led me to this movie, it’s called Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova who were both the leading actor and actress. Within the first few plucks of the guitar i felt this song is somewhat special :P

Here’s the video of the song. Acoustic rawks !

Katharine McPhee is HOT

By satkuru  //  music  //  15 Comments

If you haven’t heard about her, Katharine McPhee was the runner up for American Idol in season five and i have to say, she’s really hot. Besides having the looks and the body, Katharine definitely can sing and this was shown when she sung Over the Rainbow. To read that she was bulimic not so long ago, makes me wonder if she can maintain her current body. Enough with the boring introduction, here are a few pictures of her.
