I am gonna admit from the start that my pictures turned out terrible. Regretted for not shooting in RAW. So bear with me with my pictures. Some girls aren’t even in this blog entry of mine cause the photos aren’t flattering. Sorry ladies.

I arrived quite early at the venue and i filled up my time playing cut the rope until Aaron arrived. We both then bumped into Diese.

The event started slightly after 8pm with a hip hop dance routine.

When i was told who the judges were, i was literally awe struck. Mind you, Runway 101 is an event at the university level and here we have Amir Luqman (our local designer), Hans Isaac (Producer, Director, Actor), Andrea Fonseka (National Director of Miss Malaysia) and Andrew (Founder & CEO of Andrewsmodels).

That’s definitely a star-studded judging panel.

They were all introduced one by one and when it was Andrea’s turn, she stood up and waved like how all beauty queens do

Dennis who was incharge for both seasons of Runway 101 giving his speech just before the ladies worked the runway.

Shannon was the emcee of the night and she did an awesome job, though there were glitches. There are also times when there were awkward silence especially during the transitions. I wonder why the deejay didn’t do something like play some background music.

Speaking of deejays, the people running the coloured lights and spotlight should have done more with their equipment instead of the usual warm lights being shone on the girls.

For the first round, the girls came out in black spaghetti tops with jeans. I had trouble shooting some of the girls cause they didn’t know what they were suppose to do at the end of the runway, which is to stop and pose. Some actually barely made a stop, they basically U-turned immediately at the end of the runway.

It was quite frustrating and i thought probably they are all nervous and the 2nd and 3rd rounds would be better. I was wrong. Probably the nerves got to them.

Judges evaluate the girls every round. Besides crowning the winner for Runway 101, there’s also the most photogenic as well as audience’s favourite. So even we as the audience had the chance to practice our rights as a voter

For the 2nd and 3rd round, the girls appeared in Amir Luqman’s and Oscar Design’s dresses. Some girls had a hard time walking down the runway in those dresses. It was definitely nail biting, thinking some of the girls were gonna tumble anytime. Certain dresses just looked slightly bigger than the girls. What ever it is, i could see the girls were really trying to make it work. Some did try even harder but it just didn’t suit them. The lucky ones had their dresses on flawlessly.

Note for the future Runway 101, make sure the girls can walk. It’s called Runway 101 for a reason. Don’t forget to perform a full rehearsals before the show cause it was visible that most of them were lost.

add-on: i was told that the venue had no electricity prior to the event and that it was hard perform a proper rehearsal.

After the girls had flaunt all dresses, it was the committee’s turn to take the stage. I can tell you that some of the girls on the committee could have easily participated in the show. Some could even walk well and strike a pose. I also had the chance to meet Jeremy who is a classmate of Dennis and also the main photographer for Runway 101.

The highlight of the night was definitely this moment. Dennis presented a mock cheque to Mercy Malaysia which has a total of RM 5500 from Runway 101 itself. A few minutes after that, the emcee was interrupted and she announced that Hans Isaac just doubled the amount on his account which made the total amount to Mercy Malaysia, RM 11000 !!!

Miko won the Most Photogenic during the photoshoot.

Melanie won the Audience’s Choice award.

… and the winner of Runway 101, who will walk away with RM1000 cash, Amir Luqman’s cash voucher worth RM2500, Free Profile Shooting Package worth RM650 & Gift Voucher worth RM129 by Crocs, is …

… Symren. This was the only time when one of the girls stood and pose at the end of the runway.

The judges were then presented with a gift of appreciation.

Check out Amir Luqman’s heels! He actually mentioned during the show regarding how some girls are struggling with heels even shorter than his. Malu only lol.

All in all, the committee members must have had worked their asses off to prepare for this night. From Food to Sound System, from Seatings to Votings. All done very well professionally even with a few shortcomings from external factors.

Two weeks ago i was back in Penang, Angeline and i decided to have lunch in Queensbay when we came across some sales going on in the middle of QB’s atrium. Different shops were participating and most items were heavily discounted.

As usual, most Penangites or at least i, wait for moments like this to get items that are usually not within my spending power.

Immediately when i saw the swoosh logo with a 50%-70% off sign, i joined in digging for whatever i could get. Every Manchester United and Arsenal came together at one place digging for their sizes, lol.

I later on moved over the shoe section, glancing around to see if any shoes that looks catchy.

There was this section that had a few Nike Plus shoes and i was showing Angeline what is this Nike Plus symbol mean.

As far as i can remember, those shoes with Nike Plus symbol means there’s a compartment at the sole for you to insert a device that tracks your running distance, etc. This device communicates with any Nike Plus enabled iPods (iPod Nano, iPod Touch and iPhone) and if you don’t have neither, a standalone wrist device by Nike will do the trick.

So i opened the sole padding to expose the compartment for the device for Angeline to see …

… and there was nothing.

I was dumbfounded for a moment. I was thinking if Nike did come up with a new line for Nike plus or if something was wrong with this pair particularly *i checked both sides, left and right*. Unfortunately after checking a different pair, the Nike Plus shoes over here didn’t have that compartment.

When i asked the nearby salesperson, he said he doesn’t know anything and walked off.

Trying to kill the curiosity immediately, i walked to the stall beside that was also having Nike shoes on sale.

I picked up the shoe to confirm it had the swoosh with the plus sign and then i checked for the sole compartment.

…. and there it was. Sitting in the middle of the sole.

At this point, i never concluded anything yet cause i simply wanted to get a pair of sneakers. But after seeing what the other stall had, i opted to buy from this stall.

That very same day, i was in Gurney for dinner and since i had time to spare, i walked into the Nike shop just to clarify. I asked how does the Nike plus shoes differ from the normal Nike shoes. The staff replied, Nike Plus shoes have the compartment for the device, normal ones don’t. I asked back what happens if the shoe doesn’t have but has the Nike Plus sign. She just stared blankly and said i am not sure but it should usually have.

From there Angeline and i concluded that the stall in Queensbay ‘could’ be selling fake Nike shoes. Hmmmm, kinda dangerous especially after looking at the price tag they had on that pair.

I might be wrong here, that’s if Nike did come up with a new line for Nike plus. Or probably it’s some reject shoes, etc.

Until then, beware people. I think you can use this as the yardstick for any Nike shops, hehehe.

Last week Angeline called me up to say that she got herself a pair of tickets to Urbanscapes and would be coming down to KL for it. I on the other hand reluctantly said that i wouldn’t want her to come down. With the looming cases of H1N1 cases in KL, it would be wise to stay away from crowded areas especially with the younger demographic.

Debra was telling me how her friends got infected and asked if i will be attending. I told her the same reasons as above and she agreed. That’s why she sent her sister instead

As for Angeline, she still came to KL BUT had the impression that Urbanscapes was on Sunday.

… no i didn’t remind her nor did i mention about it. She finally realized it on her own when she re-read the mail, ROFL.

I was always curious about what Urbanscapes was about but i guess i have to wait for next year.

Speaking of H1N1 @ Urbanscapes …

It has been a month since Sae Wei’s and FireWire’s (yes that’s his real name LOL) wedding and finally i have time to write about it. I was told to hold on before writing but the fact that my entries are all backlogged, it didn’t really matter

William and i drove from Cyberjaya towards PJ to fetch Angeline and Evelyn before heading over to Wangsa Maju where we met up with Aaron and Daniel

We were there quite early, so early that we had breakfast at a nearby coffee shop ala Old Kopitiam. After forty odd minutes, we were told that Firewire was on his way to pick Sae Wei. So we gathered at Sae Wei’s place and waited

Before we left for breakfast, we met up with Sae Wei. She had a few people doing her make up when we reached. As usual those with cameras starting snapping around. Angeline and Evelyn on the other hand prepared a few obstacles for the bridegroom before he is able to take Sae Wei

Firewire and two of his relatives had to do numerous things before being allowed to be near the door. Nothing comes easy in life He had to eat pau which is filled with wasabi, remove a rubberband from a pail of ice water using his foot, wear stocking and a few more silly things … but somehow one of his aunts sounded us LOL and told to let him through I just love to see the comotion cause by the elder folks

He was eventually allowed get Sae Wei from her room. In the room he was given a final task, which was to say I love You in a few languages. Firewire was so prepared that when he was asked to say it in Thai, he did it without any hesistant Ganas ler

We were then all brought over to Firewire’s place for the tea ceremony

When i reached his place, i quickly switched over to 50mm after realizing the rest were all on their kit lens and i thought of trying to shoot everything with 50mm. It wasn’t easy but most of the picture turned out better than expected. I didn’t have the chance to capture the tea ceremony cause there was just too many people standing in front of me Hung Wei did point out something about the picture above which was try not to include any photographers in the picture LOL

Kids were trying to get to know them so in future angpows could easily be obtained, hahahaha.

The reason why i couldn’t fit everyone into the picture was because 50mm is a fixed lens and it’s doesn’t zoom out or in. But the main point is to show how cheerful Sae Wei and Firewire are

After the tea ceremony, we photographed Sae Wei in her room. William was really in his element and all i did was stand from afar and did some random shots

After like twenty minutes, Sae Wei decided to change her attire …. and so we waited for her

… in the mean time we glanced thru pictures taken before her wedding

William as usual trying to laugh at his own jokes, hahahaha.

After changing, we continue taking pictures of Sae Wei

Again William was in the zone and he started adjusting here and there for perfection

The ladies had other ideas while waiting for Sae Wei to set herself properly

After the photoshoot, we then adjourned for lunch at a Chinese Restaurant which wasn’t far from his house. I barely took any shots there cause i was busy eating. The stage was open to anyone who would like to karoake and a few brave souls just did that, sing …. really respect them

Sae Wei and Firewire, thanks for the invite and both of you have a great marriage life ahead !

P/S: Just got back from Sunway for Charng’s Farewell and i realized everyone had something to talk about either relationship or crushes that they are having and here i am blogging about Sae Wei’s marriage. I too found out not too long back that my Apple Sifu is gonna become a dad soon

P/P/S: Malaysia might have a radical change soon …. Anwar has really spiced up the politics in Malaysia. Never had i being so interested on what’s happening with both parties Is his landslide victory at Permatang Pauh could be the beginning of a new era ?

The last few days i haven’t been feeling well, hence the lack of update on my blog. Besides that, i finally managed to window shop in Gurney and Queensbay. I haven’t had much time for myself because i was either working in Queensbay or trying to finish my projects. By the time i have reached home, it would be time to sleep

Today was no different but i was half an hour early and no one was around in Queensbay. I headed over to some mamak shop called Queensbay Mamak, i think.

 While having my breakfast, i noticed a group of ladies who were all in cheongsam and i have to say, they looked sizzling hawt In fact this whole week i have seen many in cheongsam; regardless whether it was the classic cheongsam suit or with the modern touch where the cheongsam was worn with a tight fitting jeans, they all looked hawt

Obviously with Chinese New Year around the corner, it explains the sudden surge of girls in cheongsam  

So ladies, you know what to do

At first i was a bit hesitated to update, not knowing the consequences especially if i were to maintain my current theme and plugins. I was waiting for anyone to update and give a slight report on it. I came across 5Xmom’s post and finally i gave it a try.

For the most part of my blog, everything worked fine except the related post by Jerome which showed error. But a quick switch to WP 2.3 Related Posts and the problem was fixed. Luckily for the new option of importing Jerome’s Keywords and that sped up the fix.

So i am happy to say, i am on WordPress 2.3
