Wow who would have thought Camera+ integrated with WordPress? Makes a whole lot easier to blog with better quality pictures. WordPress basically brings you to Camera+ app and after you have snapped and edited, the picture will be exported straight to WordPress. Be reminded it only works with one picture, something like Instagram and Twitpic. The picture attached is the first pic taken with this function.

Yeap, you read that right. No this is not a scam nor some sales pitch. It was just one of those days when everything goes better than expected.

Angeline and i spent about 2 hours discussing locations on photo shoot with the bridal house and it was time to meet up with Jess Lim aka BlurJess aka The Lonely Pork of Porkless Land. She was in Penang for a day or two and we wanted to catch up with her.

Along the way, i had to make a quick pitstop to refuel and that’s when the above titled incident took place.

I did the usual.

Parked my car, walked to the machine, realized i didn’t bring my card.

Walked to the counter instead and gave two RM50 notes and my Bonuslink card.

The attendant then signaled to me that i could start refueling. As i hit the RM100 mark, i walked back to the counter to get back my Bonuslink card.

“Ada satu ringgit?” the attendant asked me. For some reason, i took out one ringgit without thinking and i was given back my Bonuslink card but i also got back one RM50 note. Being all confused, i tried asking the attendant what’s with the RM50?

Instead he showed me his screen and it indicated my pump poured RM49 and he then said, “Next” and served the next customer.

I was already in a hurry to meet up with Jess and decided to walk back to my car. As i got in, Angeline asked,”What’s that you are holding in your hand?”.

I didn’t answer cause i was in a state of blurness to the max. Started my car and drove off.

“I don’t know why but i was given back RM50 after giving RM 1 to the attendant,” i told her.

The short drive to Jess’s place was total silence cause we were trying to figure out why RM49 when my tank showed:

Estimated Cruise Range 623km.

That’s full tank.

2011 was the year where I was the least productive on my blog. You can go through the entries and realized there were barely 20 post.

2012 on the other hand will be a year where I will be documenting more entries as I will rely on my phone more.

I gave away my PC and been relying on my old notebook which takes a long time to boot and not to mention to launch Firefox, Photoshop, etc.

I recently cashed out from Nuffnang and it was good to see passive income which will be funded for my coming soon trip. Hopefully that will spark my urge to write more.

It was a good thing too that we had our stop here after having a pasta overload session in Soul Kitchen.

Conveniently located at Union Street, it’s very hard to miss it as it’s just before Maybank.

As you enter the cafe you will see polka dots all over and this would be in theme with their baby full month services. Adorable looking items all over the place.

There’s a showcase to display the different packages available for the full month, complete with toys and packaging.

They also have a wide variety of cakes and drinks for those who would love to chill out.

We had the chance to try out all of their signature drinks and it was definitely thirst quenchers.

I am gonna be frank here. I have always heard about Soul Kitchen but never had the chance of dropping by, simply because i was rooted to KL for the last few years. 2011 however was different. I was back in Penang and when i was told that the 1st stop for Penang Heritage was Soul Kitchen, i was ecstatic.

I checked out their Facebook page before hand and true enough when i arrived there, i was greeted by the beca and the owner’s new bike. Located at Muntri Street, it’s hard to miss this place if you are coming from either Love Lane or Penang road.

Michele and Tonio who run this place are not your usual couple you would see in cafes. They are a Malaysian German couple who met in Munich and ended up getting married here in KL before setting up this business. As i was walked into this cafe i could sense on why they called it Soul Kitchen. It was cosy, every where you look it was eye catching and not forgetting both Michele and Tonio who were kind enough to introduce the place as well as the food that would be served.

Soul Kitchen Trattoria

The place itself looks cosy. By any chance do you what’s the meaning of Trattoria? Its an italian-style eating establishment. there are generally no printed menus, the service is casual.

Part of the menu is already available to be seen from the greenboards itself and if you are spoiled with choices, simply ask them for recommendation

As we waited for them to prepare the different dishes for us, we wasted no time snapping picture of the place. We had 2 hours to explore the place as well as to review the food prepared.

Pasta Salmon – Fresh salmons with mustard cream sauce. The thing about salmon would be the smell, it definitely has to be fresh to enjoy it and pasta salmon checked every box right. Fish lovers should give this a try.

One of us decided to bring out the mother of all cameras, an iPad 2 to snap the dishes, lol.

Pasta Chicken al Limone – consists of chicken cubes marinated with lemon juice and white wine, slices of capsicums, herbs, carrot and also parmesan cheese. Of all the pastas, this was my favourite.

Pasta Salsiccia – Comprises of homemade pork sausages with fresh tomatoes. If you would prefer something lighter than Pasta Camo, then you can opt for this. Of course do take note again that Pasta Salsiccia comes with pork.

Pasta Sardella - Anchovies, fresh tomatoes, capers and olive oil

Pasta Como consists of goat cheese and white wine, bacon with some cut chillis. Every single pasta here was unique in its own rich flavour.

Pizza Parma Ham – Came out as a surprise to me. The usual pizzas are round with fixed amount of ingredients. This however is more homely done. The crust is how i like it, thin. This pizza has ham, parmesan cheese and garnished with rocket salad.

Pizza Gorgonzola with Pears – Now who would thought about pears being on pizzas? If you want something different from the usual pizzas you always see, why don’t you try this out. Good for 2 pax.

Fish Soup – Now this is something different. It has different types of fillet fishes in it with prawns. On top of that, it has freshly cut potatoes and carrots.

Dried Tomato Salami Entree – Salami, dried tomatoes, rocket salad and mushrooms. I made a mistake here thinking it was all to be eaten randomly. I was wrong. You are suppose to eat all 4 ingredients at one go and that will set off your taste buds.

We then were given a short break before the dessert.

The tiramisu was a great way to end the meal and it was personally prepared by Michele.

So December 16th will be the date where iPhone 4S will make it’s grand entrance to Malaysia and our beloved telcos have revealed their plans for the phone.

As usual Digi has maintained their 2 years contract plan and it will only be fair to compare both contracts on the 2 years basis.

Smart phones these days are famous for their hunger for data, including iPhone. So comparing their given data quota would be a better gauge for customers like me.

It’s clear that Digi is cheaper comparing to Maxis but do take note of signal coverage. But then again with a difference of at least RM 400, i won’t be surprised if more people go for the yellow man.

It has been a long time dream for my dad to own a dog, especially after having 2 dogs back in the days of Ipoh. We just couldn’t afford to keep one here in Penang due to space constraint at home.

We eventually shifted many years to a new home and finally this year, after we have settled down well, my sis and i surprised my dad with this fella you see above.

It was Father’s Day when Bittu arrived.

We walked into a nearby pet store and my sis had her eyes locked on to a brown toy poodle who was fast asleep. Upon inquiry, we were told that the fella was already sold to a couple before us.

Out of nowhere, this white fella jumped into the scene and ran towards us!

I was stunned …

… and my sis said, “OMG he is so adorable! Look at his pinky nose”.

There and then a bond was made and Bittu followed us home.

My dad got a shock when he saw a white furball with short little legs running around the living area.

The whole family was in joy seeing a new addition to the family.

My mum has never being so keen of having pets.

“Why should we have a pet when you can’t even take care of yourselves?”

Her usual statement since the beginning of time.

Now that we are all grown ups, it don’t really apply. Well at least not to me.

Bittu had a hard time with mum.

He tried quite hard to win for her affection …

… but it has always fall on deaf ears.

The closest he has got to her attention was being chased by a rolled up newspaper out of the kitchen which isn’t what he expected.

Everyday as i prepare to go for work, Bittu sits at the same position until i leave in my car.

He also awaits at a similar position when i return.

Recently, he took up a notch by banging on my door sharp at 8am. My iPhone Alarm is now used as a back up alarm.

My parents are always in awe when they see him wake up at 7.50ish and walk to my room door to do his customary bang. If i don’t respond to the sound, he actually growls and followed by him barking.

Being a home dog, Bittu rarely interacts with outsiders unless we have visitors. This has made him to bark at strangers who come nearby our front gate.

A few months back, 2 guys jumped into our porch probably to break in but they decided to grab our shoes instead when Bittu started barking.

It was hard to believe what he has just prevented, especially for a small size dog. We replayed our CCTV and yes the fellas that broke in did do an about turn when Bittu barked.

Since then i have extended his name to Sergeant Bittu. Not that i call him that all the time but i thought it fits well since he love patrolling. Mum has also then opened up to him. In fact now he loves playing fetch with mum.

I recorded this a few days ago when we tried to tease him by placing one of his toys on a table. Never expected anything from him and i thought he would just bark at us until we return the ball to him.

I thought wrong.

LOL

Every trip we ever had were all planned at least 8 to 12 months ahead. But buying the flight tickets has been rather spontaneous.

Of course we would see if it’s feasible in the first place, especially now that we are planning for our big day.

We never had Laos in our main traveling list. We couldn’t get the Vietnam tickets at the ever so cheap Airasia promos and so we opted for Laos.

I have to admit that the last few trips never got my fullest attention because of work.

Ever since I shifted back to Penang, the focus has been my work. I am just not in my usual environment where I can be fiddling with machines and equipments that are rarely seen out of a lab.

Laos is similar to Cambodia and Thailand but more laid back.

Emails took forever to be replied and in the end I took the chance of walking in rather than booking prior to the trip.

I could only do that because I knew the people traveling with me well.

Well enough that, we took a almost broken van from Medan to Lake Toba in one of the most torturous rides in my life !

6 hours of bone breaking ride.

For this trip we had 7 kakis that needed a time off from work.

They are Angeline, Emily, Vingie, Jess, Colleen, Aaron and yours truly.

After the launching of the 3S center for CSL, we were then whiskered away to a cafe in Megamall Pinang itself and it’s called Life.

Upon entering the cafe, drinks were already ready and the food slowly rolled out.

As we were enjoying the food, the CSL employees came by and passed us some demo units to play around.

We were shown their new line up which consisted of CSL phones decorated with Swarovski!

Probably i shouldn’t end the sentence before this with an exclamation mark as i have no desire for blings let alone jewelry, LOL. Nevertheless, it was refreshing to see a bunch of phones with a different physical outlook rather than the usual sore-eyed candybar phone in the market.

Before i go in any further, in general all 4 phones have similar key features like:

- dual sim

- apps for social media, like twitter, facebook, messengers

-microSD card expansion.

The first model that came to my table was the Princess 9200 and the first thing you would realized how the Swarovski is blinging all the where. The girls around me immediately went, “woooooooo, so the bling and nice box!”

Yeah the phone comes in this cool looking box that girls could use to store their extra make up set, etc.

Equipped with:

- dual sim

- BB Messenger

- Push Mail

- Opera Mini

- Facebook/Twitter/ Skype

Menstrual calendar (it’s a women’s phone after all)

- supports GPRS /WAP / MMS /EDGE

- 2.0 Megapixels camera

Now now, 2.0megapixels might be little for some of you out there but this is why CSL had 4 different phones for this series. Different phones have a different target group.Saying that, the price of this phone is RM299. Talk about affordability.

We then were given Sophie which was primarily aimed to those who would love to own a touch screen CSL Phone. Sophie G16, immediately caught the attention of Angeline and Emily for some reason (probably because of the phones that they are using which i will not mention here).

Equipped with the same features as the Princess model, there are some added features on Sophie such as:

- WiFi connectivity

- 3.2 Megapixels camera

All that for a mere RM399.

So if you always wanted a phone with touch functions and decorated with Swarovski crystals, Sophie would be ideal for you.

The final 2 phones of the Swarovski line up by CSL were rather briefly played around with as the girls just wouldn’t allow me to do so.

CSL Emma DS900, would be the typical candybar phone that most people love using.

Identical features as the Princess model except that the screen is slightly smaller, 2.2″. Princess has a 2.4″ screen.

CSL Emma DS900 is priced at RM299.

Finally the one that swivels around and acts as a mirror for the ladies …

CSL SHE 9300.

Probably now you get what i meant by Swivel and it becomes a mirror.

Identical features to the Princess model except for one thing …. it has a mirror lol.

Priced at RM399.

So what was there for me or for the guys?

CSL Mi 350.

It’s the 1st Dual Sim Android phone and it’s equipped with a 5 megapixels camera, a 3.5″ LCD screen as well as WiFi Connectivity.

Yes it supports 3G connection but only the 1st sim card. The 2nd sim card will be on the standard GSM quad bands and GPRS, which i think is good enough. Wouldn’t make sense to have both on 3G as usually the 2nd sim would be for calls only.

One thing about the screen is that it’s capacitive and it’s smooth as butter when i had the chance to push the icons or pages around.

It has a built in memory of 512MB ROM and 512MB RAM, expandable on the MicroSD card. GPS and AGPS comes standard.

Standby time on 3G connection would be up to 380 hours and talk time is up to 140 hours. Of course if you are not on 3G it would have a better standby and talk time.

Finally, i know you might be wondering which version of android is it on. It’s 2.2.

So with all that packed in a phone by CSL called the Switch Dual Mi350, how much do you think it is?

Nope you are wrong (that’s if you really don’t know and is honestly guessing).

2 weeks ago i was invited to the official launch of CSL’s 3S Center which is located at Megamall Penang and boy oh boy the crowd that was already there was ridiculous.

Frankly i was clueless on what was the agenda on that day and i only knew that the center was opening. Little did i know that, there were also selling certain CSL models at a special price. This ultimately made a line right in front of the CSL 3S Store.

The first person in line which his proud new toy/gadget/phone, depending how you see it.

Proudly making his order and patiently awaits for the crew to key in his details.

The 3S center had a wide range of CSL phones on demo where customers had the chance to use as well feel the phone before purchasing. This is key in any businesses, demo units.

This was one funny clown. He took random people’s Rm 1 and changed it to RM50.

Yeap he actually allowed them to keep the RM 50!

I wonder where can i find him lol
