If you didn’t know already, Digi are currently having their Internet Bonanza which ends on the 15th of November with only the Huawei modems left. I got to know about this offer from Joshua during the recent Dimension launch at Sheraton by Maxis and Astro. He mentioned that Digi is having promotion on Blackberries and N97 minis and they are CHEAP !

For once i thought, finally Malaysia is catching up to those crazy promotions like in the US or UK. Maxis never did anything for their iPhone and i don’t see that happening anytime soon. Digi on the other hand as gone all out on their 3G service ever since rolling out the Digi3Gturbo. It’s always good to have more players in the field.

When Angeline mentioned that she realizes she’s getting 3G connection in Penang, i asked her to check out the plans available and probably find out if it would be better for me to get a line as well since she’s on Digi. Too bad the person at the Customer service wasn’t as how she expected. Simple questions asked and the person was more interested in marketing some other plans for her -_-”

In the end, she left fuming and decided to use her brother’s Maxis Prepaid instead.

Back to this Internet Bonanza thingy, I thought since there’s this crazy promotion (i mean i have to admit the promotion is seriously one of the best deals out there) i would just get the line from Digi and probably subscribe for their Internet plan, etc.

My room mate and brother on the other hand were really interested in getting the phone, so off we went to One Utama on Saturday at 5am. If you considered that early, you would be surprised that there were easily 100 in queue already. Upon arrival, i came out from the entrance where the queue sort of started and a heated argument between 2 camps were going on.

Realizing it was pointless to queue up since there’s only 44 units of Blackberry Curve available, i told my brother and roomie to leave. As we walked to back to the car at level 3, a few people were seen going through a door and we followed. At the end of the staircase, we came out at the LG floor just to realize there’s already a queue in it (above pic).

This is where i spotted Joshua who was easily in the first 44 in line and Andrew who was not so far behind Joshua. My brother said he wanted to try and so he lined up and i whipped out my phone and started surfing the net.

Andrew then came by and told that one of the girls who is first in line came at about 6-7pm on Friday @.@ and i was like seriously ?!

There’s even a namelist that states who who came in sequence.

To be frank i never seen any proper indication on where the line should be nor which shutter would be opened.

I got bored and started walking around snapping random pics. I have always read and seen pictures of people in the States queuing up for iPhones, PS3s and even recently Jimmy Choos but i have never been in one, lol.

Alvin, who came yesterday did say that the line should be starting on the other side and not the front shutter as how the previous picture has indicated. So we lingered around there, till one of the Digi staff appeared.

At one glance, he looked like he was smirking at the crowd and when a girl stopped him and asked him a question (which i didn’t really hear), he replied aloud,

“What line ? The lines are all imaginary and it could be anywhere”

… and he continued laughing.

This of course set a commotion among those who overheard this ‘soft’ comment. I mean come on LAH, there’s like hundred plus people eagerly waiting and when you say something like that, obviously it will trigger some panic attack.

If a doughnut company can do a proper line for their customers/fans, i don’t see why can’t a telecommunication company as big as Digi can’t.

I mean this is not even their first day but in fact their 3rd day. If the people incharge of Digi noticed that they already had people lining up as early as 6am for the Friday’s promotion then obviously Saturday would be more since it’s a weekend.

Simple common sense.

Further more, having such an event in a shopping complex, please ler communicate with the security director or something to standardize everything. One fella says one thing, the other fella says no. I spoke to one of the guards and he said,

“Shopping complex buka pukul 10 je, tapi dah banyak orang. Siapa siapa pun tak beri tahu kami”.

It even came to a point where policemen with guns came to check out if everything was in control.

To add insult, that same person who represented Digi appeared amongst the crowd and said this:

I had to stop recording by then cause people were already shoving about when he mentioned the line will start in front of him instead ! Seriously ?! WTF ?!

So everyone in the current queue ran towards him and everyone started pushing like mad. I am not sure if he was trying to play God by seeing how everyone actually follows his command. Too bad i was just standing near a pillar observing how unprofessional the whole thing has become.

Next, he said he won’t open the shutters unless everyone leaves that floor as in Lower Ground Floor -_-! And that made everyone run off to the nearest exit. WTF again ?!

So as i cleared to the Ground floor, a parent was telling me this is very very bad. It will definitely cause injuries if everyone were to run towards the entrance when he gives the signal. Probably it was a test of the fittest -_-” Who runs there first gets a Curve or a HP mini -_-”

Wait !

It doesn’t stop there. That’s like probably the tip of the iceberg.

People eventually started lining up again at the main shutter and after a grueling 45mins or so, we heard the line was to be started where Alvin mentioned earlier and that cause everyone to rush to the back.

After the line extended to God knows where, that fella from Digi made the most ridiculous rule of the day,

“I know most of you are gonna hate me for this but priority is  DIGI CUSTOMERS FIRST”.

At that very point, i told my brother let’s go ler. Most of the people were in shocked. I on the other hand was trying to finish a game of scrabble but got distracted when he made that announcement. In a way, he does have every right to say that since he is representing Digi. There’s definitely the good and bad to that outcome. It would be good for the current Digi users as it’s an advantage for them but on the other hand, Digi would have lost other customers who were eagerly waiting to get a new line from Digi though the amount is probably 44 or slightly more.

The whole freaking fiasco could have been done in an orderly manner if they had just observed on what was happening for the past few days.

Frankly i was really expecting probably a line that will be setup for people to queue up and not throw remarks like the lines are all imaginary lines. Seriously WTF.

I definitely can’t blame Digi on the whole because it’s these few people who usually screw things up. Take for an instance the person behind the Digi twitter @digi_telco, the bugger actually blocked me just because i tweeted Digi can suck my toes, LOL. Hello if you can’t take criticism then don’t bother handling the facebook and twitter for heaven’s sake. Are we like suppose to praise all the time -_-”  Wake up and smell the coffee please.

I am still gonna wait for the next chance to get a Digi line since Angeline won’t be shifting telco anytime soon and hopefully the next time would be a pleasant one and not as unprofessional as the stated above.

What ever happened on Saturday is just one big mismanagement, period. Digi is not to be blamed but it’s the people who were incharge. Even if you are not expecting such a commotion but the way it was handled during the whole thing was really ridiculously unprofessional.

Danny – 14hours wait… came out empty handed

So after committing myself to attend a musical which i had no idea how it would be like since this was my first, the day finally came and boy was i surprise on how a musical could be as entertaining as the movie if not better. It was Beauty and the Beast and i thought what could probably go wrong since i loved the cartoon. Hours before leaving for the show, my hopes were shot down when i was told that this musical isn’t highly acclaimed in other countries but i think in the end it all comes down to personal preference. Anyway that’s besides the point. The show was awesome in short.

I was accompanied by Speaker friend, Lingster and Kawan lama dari zaman batu (Jiin, Ling, Charng) …. LOL and of course WernSern

Before the show we all gathered at Chinoz on the Park for a light dinner and it was a major ‘potong-stim’ experience. The service was way below par and don’t let me get started with the price. I wouldn’t be ranting about the price had the service been acceptable.

Charng ordered some salad thingy and she got this …. i am not sure about the description of the dish but she definitely wasn’t expecting her salad to be like this, LOL. As for me, they didn’t have what i wanted from the menu and i was forced to choose something else.

I had soup, Jiin had some cake, Lingster had some prawns and Wern Sern had salad. It was green bean soup i think or was it spinach soup ? Which ever it is, i initially asked for mushroom soup but it seems the kitchen ran out of that -_-”

I think Wern Sern was the only one who enjoyed his dinner, JIin came in second since hers was dessert and not the main meal All this happened in the span of forty minutes or less before the show. So we shoved everything down our throats before asking for the bill.

When the bill arrived, everyone was poorer by at least two red notes and mind you the meal wasn’t much. We even opted for sky juice. But all this faded off when we finally got our butts to the hall. I personally love the ever changing sets on the stage. They made really good use of the space given and everyone acted so well. I am not gonna elaborate much about the storyline as i am sure most of you would have known already. Personal rating would be a staggering nine upon ten. LOL.

Just when i thought musical/orchestra would be out of the way for quite sometime since it’s not easy to gather people let alone attend one, i was off again ….

This outing was slightly different cause instead of having the tickets before hand, we decided to get it off the counter …. and guess what, the tickets were sold out. It was a show by the MPO at KLCC and they were playing Beethoven this time.

Bernard reached there first and he called me saying there weren’t any tickets left, even the next day had none to spare -_-” So on the way to KLCC, Dolphin suggested Istana Budaya and KLPac as an alternative. Why there’s an alternative ? That’s because all of us were dressed up and they would wanna go somewhere, lol -_-”  Oh and William was also in KLCC waiting for all of us but weren’t told about the tickets till we reached. His face was really dark as he walked towards my car, hahaha. Bernard later on got into my car as well and we went to KLPAC …. just to find out there weren’t any shows -_-”

Then we drove to Istana Budaya and found out there’s an orchestra show on Movie themes called the ‘Musical Journey Concert with National Symphony Orchestra’ and we got ourselves the tickets. We were like a bunch of desperados -_-”

We headed back to KLCC for dinner.

Since Chinoz on the Park was a washout the first time, i suggested The Apartment which was just beside Chinoz.

Just when i thought my luck with the Apartment would be better compared to Chinoz, i was wrong -_-” There was nothing to shout about when it came to the food nor the service. The outlet over at the Curve is definitely better than this.

There’s just something about the restaurants on that row in KLCC. Probably i am jinxed to step into any of those outlets. I think i would be better off at McD or KFC.

We then left for Istana Budaya again and for thirty ringgit, we sat like 4 rows from the stage, lol. Personal favourite was when they played Phantom of the Opera, the songs really got ‘kick’. The conductor was very lively as well and mind you he is a local unlike MPO which was conducted by a foreigner. I have nothing against foreigners but i was quite surprised on how our local conductor performed. He even sang back to the Saprona singer Cecilia Yap at one point, lol kinda cheeky.

They played Sound of Music and William started doing his moves which we used to perform back in Melaka days for our Early Entrance Program in MMU.

Oh and did i say we had to sing Negaraku before the show started ? Hehehe i can’t even remember when was the last time i sang Negaraku

All and all i thought the show was not bad. The second was definitely better. Personal rating would be six and half upon ten. Don’t ask me where did the half came from …. LOL. I just felt it deserved another half rather being six

After the show i was forced to make two U-turns and go round a lake to get to this place. William and Dolphin were just in awe with the colours of the wheel. I on the other hand kept my eye on the ice cream man, LOL

After riding on the boat for about half an hour, we finally reached the resort that we were gonna stay for the next four days and three night. Redang Kalong was the name, RK for short. Not to be mistaken for RK House – No Pork, lol.

We were then given a short briefing by the owner of the place in terms of timing of the meals and time for check-in/check-out. Then the keys were given out and for the next four days i will be staying with William, Aaron and Hugo.

What i liked about this resort was that the rooms were all wood based, giving you that you-are-now-on-island-and-everything-is-better-in-wood feel. Surprisingly the rooms were all fitted with airconds. Water heater was also installed in the bathroom but only a lucky few would experience it. During my four days there, i never got to bathe in hot water …. not even once -_-”

So after unpacking our things, we rushed down for the first snorkeling session. So we waited for the rest and turned out that the girls took an extra ten minutes. We later found out that they were busy applying mascara and foundation. Not like anyone is gonna recognise them once they are in the water, lol.

So since we missed the first snorkeling session, we did the next best thing; snap pictures. I took this opportunity to learn more about my polarizer and William was kind enough to show how to use it. The girls appeared not too long after and everyone just lazed on the beach chairs and hammock.

The next snorkeling session was at 2.15pm, so some of us took a short nap and some just hung around till lunch time.

Each time there’s session for snorkeling, diving or meals, an old skool bell is rung around the resort to alert everyone about what is happening. It’s something you don’t experience often.

The girls werent’t late this time and we manage to get into the boat in time. I entered the water without any life jacket thinking how hard could it be swimming in the sea …. but i was wrong @_@ With the strong current around, i spent most of the time trying to maintain my spot rather than swimming around. That wore me down and in the end i retired and got back to the boat.

We returned to the resort after two hours and since some of us still had some energy left in us, we decided to canoe.

About two kilometers from the shore was an island which had nipple shaped stones all round it and that’s where we decided to canoe, lol. So imagine this, canoe-ing at 4.30pm under the hot sun in the open sea @_@

It took us about twenty minutes to reach the shore of Nipple Island and from there on we decided to hike up the breasted hills, hahaha.

Now here’s the best bit of the whole canoe-ing expedition, see the picture above ? check out the person on the far left and far right …. noticed anything missing from these two macho fellas ? they were both slipper-LESS >_<”

Now why is that the best bit of the expedition ? You see from afar, the island looked like it had a beach with white smooth sand and …… Aaron and I decided to leave out slippers behind. But that was a wrong move, i mean a WRONG MOVE. When we got there, the blardy beach was covered with blardy dead corals and it was blardy pain walking barefooted on that island. I was literally screaming like a small boy in me cause it really hurt badly. So much so that my feet did bleed at one point -_-”

After hiking for a short distance, we finally reached the place where it resembled erected nipples and boy oh boy were we surrounded by so many of them, lol. Notice how macho the front two fellas are ? That was the few seconds that i smiled before moaning in pain again. And if the pebbles weren’t bad enough, the ants just made matters worst.

We carried on climbing to the top …. yes barefooted some more. Real stim ler. The view from the top was really breath-taking. We sat down for a while to enjoy the cool breeze blowing from all directions. Then we slowly hiked back down.

About two hundred meters from Nipple Island was a patch of white sand shaped like a crescent and we decided to canoe there and run around on that patch of sand.

… and that turned out to be a bad idea for me and aaron @_@

It wasn’t just white sand but it’s AGAIN covered with dead corals @_@

Check out the two fellas on the far left ler, macho-ness on its highest level. Hahaha.

We didn’t spend much time on this crescent looking patch of sand cause first it was covered with dead corals and second it was getting dark. So after snapping a few pictures, we canoed back Canoe-ing back was another issue.

Upon reaching the beach, Aaron and i canoed into a super low area and scrapped corals along the way. It came to a point where our canoe actually got stuck and had to force our way out with our oars -_-” And that was another experience that i will never forget.

After dinner, we walked to Lagune beach. This was probably the maddest part of the day for me. I was literaly a walking zombie and was dying to go back to the resort. When i finally got back to my room, i dozed off within seconds upon lying on the bed

I missed the bus again but this time around, i manage to catch the last ERL back to Putrajaya in the nick of time. Had i missed it, i would have been eating bread for the next one week if i took a taxi back. But this isn’t the highlight of this entry ….

I was suppose to meet up with the rest at Murni SS2 and so happened William was in campus and i followed him. Since there was still time, we dropped by at Sunway and played bowling. By the time we found the correct carpark to leave (yes we got lost and didn’t know where the car was), we were already late.

When we reached Murni …

… we found out it was closed. It was freaking CLOSED !

We didn’t look like idiots standing around cause i noticed quite a number of people who did come and sigh after finding out it not opened. We waited with Anna, Matthew and Joanna for Dolphin and Daniel.

When they finally reached, Dolphin kept explaining last time when she came on a Monday it was opened and had no clue why it’s closed -_-” Tiak Tiak ! Now with seven of us there, we waited a little longer for Aaron.

We all decided to have our dinner at Ming Tien instead.

Besides that, we also did crack some jokes and did a major postmortem on Anna’s and Daphne’s birthday ROFL. We were all expecting Elvie to show up though i knew she was giving this outing a pass since she was going swimming …. was it swimming or gym ?
