Penang Heritage Food Trail: Soul Kitchen Trattoria
I am gonna be frank here. I have always heard about Soul Kitchen but never had the chance of dropping by, simply because i was rooted to KL for the last few years. 2011 however was different. I was back in Penang and when i was told that the 1st stop for Penang Heritage was Soul Kitchen, i was ecstatic. I checked out their Facebook page before hand and true enough when i arrived there, i was greeted by the beca and the owner’s new bike. Located at Muntri Street, it’s hard to miss this place if you are coming from either Love Lane or Penang road. Michele and Tonio who run this place are not your usual couple you would see in cafes. They are a Malaysian German couple who met in Munich and ended up getting married here in KL before setting up this business. As i was walked into this cafe i could sense on why they called it Soul Kitchen. It was cosy, every where you look it was eye catching and not forgetting both Michele and Tonio who were kind enough to introduce the place as well as the food that would be served. Soul

A short getaway to Laos
Every trip we ever had were all planned at least 8 to 12 months ahead. But buying the flight tickets has been rather spontaneous. Of course we would see if it’s feasible in the first place, especially now that we are planning for our big day. We never had Laos in our main traveling list. We couldn’t get the Vietnam tickets at the ever so cheap Airasia promos and so we opted for Laos. I have to admit that the last few trips never got my fullest attention because of work. Ever since I shifted back to Penang, the focus has been my work. I am just not in my usual environment where I can be fiddling with machines and equipments that are rarely seen out of a lab. Laos is similar to Cambodia and Thailand but more laid back. Emails took forever to be replied and in the end I took the chance of walking in rather than booking prior to the trip. I could only do that because I knew the people traveling with me well. Well enough that, we took a almost broken van from Medan to Lake Toba in one of the most torturous rides in

Philippines Day 2: Church of Paoay
Before leaving for Laoag City, we took group photos with the hotel staffs. With me above is Miss Kaye and the receptionist. Miss Kaye was in constant communication with me even when we missed out flight from Manila. Even throughout the bus journey from Manila to Vigan, i received calls to make sure where we were and that their staffs were on standby once we arrive in their town. Without a doubt i would recommend Hotel Salcedo de Vigan to anyone who would want to visit this beautiful town! We then continued our journey heading north to Laoag City. On the way, we stopped by one of the landmarks which is listed as a Unesco Site, Church of Paoay. Founded in 1593. We barely had 1 hour as we needed to reach Laoag City before dark. Hannah,”Guys, you have only 30minutes!”. Everyone scrams! LOL We left Church of Paoay in a rush and headed towards Laoag City where it poured heavily upon arrival and we also got to eat …. …. wait for it …. Pookie Pookie….!
Meet the Parents: Deepavali Meetup
After my first few nervy encounters with Angeline’s parents, i took the next step which is to invite her parents over to my home. And what other better time than Deepavali to invite them over. I think i had to correct my invitation message a couple of times before actually sending it to her dad. I never got any reply after that and Angeline never said anything if her parents did mention anything regarding my invitation. The next morning, Deepavali day itself, i was too busy running around getting things down before the whole jingbang came to my house. This is in fact the first time i was having an open house. 2 hours before lunch hour, i went over to Angeline’s house to pick her up. That’s when she told me that her family was coming over. I was like O.O! So i messaged my sister telling her to inform my parents. So many things ran through my head like what are my parents going to say to her parents or will i do anything stupid. Last year my sister invited her friends and this year i thought it would be nice to gather a few friends. With a

I am with no fashion sense
Last week i made a surprised trip back to Penang for Angeline’s birthday. She didn’t even believe i was back in Penang until i checked into the airport via foursquare. She was already on her way back when i arrived. I met up with her on Saturday and as usual i picked up whatever shirt i had on top of the pile to be worn. Bad mistake. When i was in her home waiting for her to get her things ready, she was all dressed up. I mean really really dressed up. What i had on? A pair of jeans and a black shirt that says, Hard Rock Casino London. “You are not walking with me in that hideous shirt!” she said. She didn’t really say that actually lol. What she did say was, “Why are you wearing that cacat shirt? We are going out for my birthday right?”. I felt bad. “What if i drive back home and change into another shirt,” well that’s what i thought i should have said. But instead … “This shirt not nice? Ok we go to Gurney Plaza and i will buy a shirt on the spot” i said, thinking she would mellow

Bali Day 3: Ben Chong has a different meaning in Bali
We headed back to Sri Ratih Cottage after dinner on the 2nd night. We were all free to do anything for the night and so the guys and got into the pool. The ladies on the other hand decided to stay dry and conquered the lobby area hogging their wifi spot; facebook-ing, tweet-ing. It’s like as though we were the only residents in the whole cottage. We all went back to our rooms after an hour or so for a good night’s sleep. The next morning we had our complimentary breakfast before heading to Kuta Beach for our final night. I realized i left out pictures of the rooms in Sri Ratih Cottage. Here they are The rooms are very spacious, in fact too spacious lol. Good thing if you have big backpacks like us cause you can just lay them anywhere. Same goes with the bathroom. There’s just ample of space in the room. Never bothered checking what channels were available cause i immediately dozed off once i got onto the bed.
Frash ur GCB at MTV World Stage for Jetsetter Badge
The title has no meaning on it’s own. So don’t even bother deciphering what i meant. Hahaha. I had a bunch of key words that i wanted to put in my title and so i came up with the lamest way possible to link them up. Anyway here’s a short update on what will be posted up soon and what have I been up to for the past few weeks. I finally had my first GCB burger aka Grilled Chicken Burger and my verdict is ….. It’s aight. The price is the only major setback. If McDonalds could only replace McSpicy with GCB. Recently I had the chance to ride on an ATV thanks to a certain company that loves giving cheap deals. The colours of the ATV does not signify anything lol. I checked my blog thru my Safari in my iPhone and I saw large signs of Flash O.O! No no, no one is mocking about the inability to play flash on iDevices but I was trying out Frash which enables Flash. Not bad actually but I never bothered using flash on my phone. It all comes down to personal preference. MTV World Stage this year had Bunk

Bali Day 2: Hiking up a semi active volcano, Mount Batur
Upon reaching Hotel Surya we divided ourselves to the rooms that were allocated to us. Because Wai Seng fell sick and had to forgo the trip, we had an extra room. We all decided to give the room to our driver and our guide, Yoga I can still remember clearly that Yoga kept asking me if i was sure of giving him the room. The driver himself was baffled, LOL. Since both of them will be with us for the next few days, why not give them some proper place to rest since we have one room extra. We were later awaken at 3 in the morning and it was freaking cold ! It wasn’t as windy as Genting Highlands but the temperature was cold. Most of us were still in daze and once we got into the van, we dozed off. After a short drive we arrived at the starting point of the hiking trail. If you are wondering why are we even hiking in Bali, well that’s because most of us here love hiking and when i was told that it’s possible to hike up Mount Batur, i thought no further and requested it. A normal hike is
